WWE has announced that there will be a “Last Time is Now Tournament” to determine who will be the final opponent of John Cena.

With the field yet to be announced but WWE claiming it will be “chosen at random,” and containing stars from Raw, SmackDown, NXT and some that “don’t even work here,” there are certainly a lot of intriguing options of who could end up being Cena’s final opponent.

Here are five potential final WWE opponents for John Cena.

5. Jeff Hardy

In what could come together to be a cathartic moment for both nostalgic favorites, perhaps Jeff Hardy will end up being John Cena’s final WWE opponent.

With the Hardy Boyz having made recent appearances in NXT as a part of the brand’s crossovers with TNA Wrestling, it has been noted for quite a while that the legendary pair will be free agents in the near future.

Cena’s final opponent being Hardy could serve as the ultimate redemption arc for Hardy, but moreover, a continuation of Cena’s legacy into another legendary retirement storyline.

With Matt and Jeff Hardy able to take up the mantle of the next farewell tour for fans to enjoy, it could be fated for Cena and Hardy to go one-on-one one more time.
