John Cena Return, WrestleMania 37, More – Your Questions Answered

In today’s Q&A here on the site, we discuss a potential John Cena WrestleMania return, another absent WWE star, and more of your questions!

@Walu2go – Do think there will be a WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal this year?

Liam Winnard (Website Manager):

I very much doubt it. There are a few notable women who aren’t on the card – Bayley, Carmella and Charlotte Flair among others – but not enough to really make up a Battle Royal. You could have some NXT names in there but with the recent COVID-19 outbreak there and the fact we just had the Royal Rumble, it’s not really necessary. A lot of them seem to be involved in the Tag Team Championship stuff anyway, so there’ll only be a couple of names who miss out. Considering how great Bayley has been for the past 18 months or so it’s a shame she doesn’t have a match, but hopefully she’ll be on the show in some capacity – maybe as a guest commentator for Banks vs Belair or something like that. I’d like to see her have at least some kind of role to play.

Sanchez Taylor (News Writer):

I don’t think so. Considering the Andre The Giant Battle Royal was reportedly moved to SmackDown to streamline the WrestleMania shows, I think every match we see at WrestleMania will have a reason for being there. It is also being reported that a big Women’s Tag Team Championship match will be made for WrestleMania on Raw, which will feature most of the women that have been showcased on WWE in recent weeks.

Where is Riddick Moss?

Liam:

He left TV in September 2020 to have surgery on a torn ACL, an injury he’d actually been working through for several months before even realising. Usually that would be about a six-to-nine month absence, so he could be ready to come back in the not-too-distant future. Remember the story Andrade told in his recent interview though – he had a surgery in October, was cleared to return in November, but WWE management didn’t even realise he was cleared until March. So Moss is either still out recovering or just yet to return. But he left for surgery last September and that’s where he went. He’s one of those guys that seems to have potential but also there wasn’t really anything special about the way he was being presented.

Sanchez:

Moss has been off WWE TV since September 2020, recovering from a torn ACL. WWE has recently filed to trademark his name, so it seems like he isn’t going anywhere. He has been out of action for six months, so he could be returning to TV soon, however this type of injury can keep competitors on the shelf for up to a year.

Will we see John Cena or The Rock at this year’s WrestleMania?

Liam:

Anything is possible in the World Wrestling Federation, pal. But I doubt it. Cena has ruled himself out due to his other projects and if Rock was available, WWE would have probably made a huge deal about it and announced he’d be appearing. It would be great to see either of them back but I’m certainly not expecting it.

Sanchez:

I wouldn’t bet on it. A report claimed that Roman Reigns vs The Rock would’ve happened this year if everything went to plan. If plans for The Rock were scrapped because of the live crowd size, I doubt he’ll make any appearance in the flesh (or stone). John Cena seems to be focusing on numerous projects outside of WWE. According to James Gunn, the recent “The Suicide Squad” trailer was viewed over 151 million times in a week, so Cena is in the pop-culture spotlight now more than ever. A Cena appearance would be good for promotion, but he’s a busy man.
