SANADA defeated Toru Yano by countout when the former locked the latter into the Paradise Lock and taped Yano to a guard rail. SANADA’s in a weird place right now. At one point, he was the most over guy in the tournament, and seemed poised to make a big run. However, now that he’s been mathematically eliminated from the final, the crowd are a little less invested. Of course, this could also be attributed to the fact that he was wrestling Yano in an expectedly comedic match.
The highlight of this match came when Rocky Romero got off commentary to help his CHAOS companion, and was put in the Paradise Lock next to Yano for his troubles. After the match, SANADA went to the Japanese commentary table to ask if he did the Paradise Locks well, and Milano Collection A.T. gave his approval.

Zack Sabre Jr. defeated United States Champion Juice Robinson via referee stoppage when ZSJ locked Juice in a devastating hold. Again, since both men are eliminated from the final, it was hard to be invested at first. Of course, the commentary filled in a story, saying ZSJ now has a new mission: win the US title from Juice on American soil.
He’ll be able to do that, since he won the match: which was actually a pretty good back and forth once it got going. They told an effective story where Juice had more power and fighting spirit, but Zack was the smarter, craftier wrestler. Ultimately, Zack got his wish and defeated the US Champion, earning himself a title shot down the line. Since Fighting Spirit Unleashed in Long Beach comes this September, and Tama Tonga, Kota Ibushi, Tetsuya Naito, and Kenny Omega all have bigger fish to fry, Zack seems like the logical opponent for this show.
