LIVE COVERAGE – WWE SmackDown Live – September 11, 2018 – WrestleTalk

03:02am

That wraps up the final episode of SmackDown Live before Hell in a Cell.

Not much happened to be honest.

Other than the tag team title match being decided, it was all just more of the same, really.

Not a bad show but not great either.

Make sure you check in to WrestleTalk.com this Sunday during Hell in a Cell for our take on the live action!

02:59am

Just as it looked like Brie had the win with the “Yes!” Lock, Miz pulls her out the ring to cause a DQ and a Bella win.

After the match, Bryan inadvertently runs down his wife while attempting to chase Miz, and the ‘It Couple’ destroy their opponents for this Sunday.

It’s Bryan and Brie who turn the tables though, to stand tall at the final stop before Hell in a Cell!

02:57am

So, Miz and Maryse have just canceled the match because they don’t want to have it.

Is that really how it works?

Brie’s not too happy about this though, and proceeds to beat down Maryse at ringside.

Oh no, the match is actually still happening. Oh yay.

02:46am

Time for the main event, as Brie Bella takes on Maryse.

Women’s Evolution.

02:44am

Almas wins after a few minutes with a roll-up holding Truth’s jorts.

Erm… Well then.

02:36am

Up next, it’s R-Truth, who has Carmella by his side once more, taking on Andrade Almas.

02:33am

It’s a very happy Rusev Day!!

After a great match, complete with entertaining New Day commentary, Aiden took the bullet when he pushed Rusev out of the way of a Brogue Kick, allowing the Bulgarian to land a Machka Kick on Sheamus for the win.

New Day vs. Rusev Day this Sunday!

02:08am

Coming up, it’s the Bar vs. Rusev Day to determine the challengers to the New Day’s SmackDown Tag Team Titles at Hell in a Cell this Sunday.

This should be fantastic.

02:07am

Samoa Joe reads a poem entitled ‘Night Night, AJ’ about AJ Styles.

It was exactly what you’d imagine. He is amazing. This is amazing.

02:02am

After Charlotte picks up the win, Lynch attacks her and locks in the Dis-Arm-Her on the ramp.

Who could have guessed that? Mental, I know!

01:51am

Up next, it’s Charlotte Flair vs. Sonya Deville.

Odds on a Becky Lynch appearance?

01:39am

Big fan of how AJ feels very seriously about this situation, with Joe bringing his family into it and all that, yet Styles still manages to correct himself on the word “s***” to “garbage.” What a nice, family friendly man.

01:32am

Up next, it’s OOHHHHHH WEEENNNNDDDDYYYYYYYYYY’s husband, who will be addressing his upcoming WWE Championship defense against Samoa Joe.

01:29am

Just as Hardy looks set to hit a Swanton Bomb and pick up the win, he is ambushed by the ‘Viper’ from behind.

How unpredictable.

He strikes Hardy with a steel chair a few times, before Hardy manages to counter an RKO and gives the ‘Apex Predator’ a taste of his own medicine.

The ‘Charismatic Enigma’ finished off by hitting a Swanton Bomb. You know, the move he said he wasn’t going to do any more because it really hurts, but is now doing more than he’s ever done it before.

01:22am

We’re already into the second ad break of the night, which as you probably know are my FAVORITE THING IN THE WORLD, and bar a brief flurry and Whisper in the Wind from Jeff, it’s the US Champion who has been on top in this one.

Orton must be backstage shoving his penis in Tye Dillinger’s tomato soup or something.

(Allegedly).

01:05am

The show is kicking off with Jeff Hardy vs. Shinsuke Nakamura in a “we’ve run out of ideas” match.

Can’t wait for Hardy to jump up off the cell onto the ceiling, dangle from the ceiling lights, use his magical power to maneuver Orton onto the announce table, and do a Corkscrew Shooting Star 630 Frog Splash Swanton Bomb this Sunday.

00:58am

By some sort of miracle, I’m still awake.

Apologies in advance for any typos or mistakes tonight.

Expect loads.

But not as many mistakes as there will be in the Brie Bella vs. Maryse match.

Welcome to WrestleTalk‘s live coverage of the final edition of SmackDown Live before this Sunday’s Hell in a Cell pay-per-view!

If it’s anything like Raw, it will be garbage. But hopefully it won’t be, because that would be… well… garbage.

Before the show starts, check out our preview of what’s in store for tonight, but here’s a quick rundown:

  • The Bar vs. Rusev Day – Winners to face New Day for the SmackDown Tag Team Titles at Hell in a Cell
    • It was announced just after SmackDown last week that at Super Show-Down in October, New Day will defend against the Bar.
      • Card subject to change and all that. But still…
  • Maryse vs. Brie Bella in the main event
  • Charlotte Flair vs. Sonya Deville
  • Andrade Almas vs. R-Truth
    • But will Truth have Carmella in his corner to even the odds once more?
  • Jeff Hardy vs. Shinsuke Nakamura
    • So they have nothing for Nakamura and have run out of ideas for Hardy vs. Orton so we’re right back where it all started. Yay!
