The road to WrestleMania 39 hasn’t all been smooth sailing creatively for WWE, as a whole host of plans for this year’s Mania have been altered.
And at this rate, some more might still be, so let’s take a look at the matches that were once penciled in for the Grandest Stage of them All in 2023, but ended up being axed.
Starting with…
Roman Reigns vs. The Rock
WWE had always hoped it would be able to pull off this family affair between its current biggest star and one of the biggest stars of all time.
This year’s Mania wasn’t always the first choice, but with it being in Hollywood, where Rock spends most of his time nowadays, it all seemed to line up perfectly.
Except… he’s The Rock, which means he’s a bit busy. Too busy, in fact, to prepare for a WrestleMania main event match.
This one slipped through WWE’s fingers again, and the clock is ticking on whether there’ll be another chance.
