WWE/AEW
Ahead of AEW Double Or Nothing 2026, the company announced that Mick Foley will make his AEW debut as a host alongside Renee Paquette on the Buy In pre-show.
Coming out of the pay-per-view, Tony Khan has indicated that Foley will have some kind of continued role with the promotion.
It should prove to be very interesting what the WWE Hall of Famer will be doing with All Elite Wrestling moving forward.
Here are six potential Mick Foley AEW plans after Double Or Nothing 2026 debut.
6. An ambassador role

Mick Foley is set to make his first AEW appearance at tonight’s Double or Nothing event
Over the seven years of All Elite Wrestling, the company has brought in a litany of legends that have come in to play an ambassador role.
From Paul Wight to Mark Henry, these WWE legends have played crucial roles in promoting the company with their name recognition and star power.
Mick Foley seems like the kind of iconic star who can come into AEW and play a similar role in the near future.
With everything he has accomplished in the business, Foley would be an excellent ambassador to promote AEW and make it feel bigger due to his mere presence.
5. Special guest host for PPV events

AEW Forbidden Door is set to be the company’s first event following Double or Nothing
Considering Mick Foley is coming into All Elite Wrestling as a host on the Buy In, it could be something he continues to do moving forward.
The former three-time WWE Champion is someone who can bring eyes to AEW in a major way.
After leaving a WWE Legends deal, Foley can bring some of his fans to try All Elite Wrestling for the first time.
Foley hosting future pay-per-views would make a ton of sense and offer some memorable interactions with current stars on the roster.
4. Becoming an authority figure

Tony Khan has been the primary overseer of All Elite Wrestling both on and off screen since the company’s inception in 2019
Since retiring for the first time in 2000, Mick Foley has played an authority figure on several different occasions.
There was Foley’s time as WWE Commissioner where he had one of the most noteworthy runs of any authority figure that fans have ever seen.
Foley would once again become an authority figure when he became the Raw General Manager alongside Stephanie McMahon in 2016.
Becoming the first significant authority figure in the company since Christopher Daniels in 2024, Foley could come in to play the role of matchmaker in AEW.
3. Joining the commentary team

Excalibur and Tony Schiavone tend to lead commentary on AEW Dynamite, with either Bryan Danielson or Taz filling in the third spot
Mick Foley has not only made a name for himself in WWE as an in-ring performer and authority figure, but he has also been a great color commentator.
Back in 2009, Foley sat alongside Jim Ross on the SmackDown commentary team.
Holding his own with one of the greatest announcers in wrestling history, Foley is someone who is so knowledgeable and shows genuine enthusiasm on his call.
Bringing something unique to the table, Foley could excel alongside Excalibur, Tony Schiavone and Taz on the AEW commentary team if that is the role he plays moving forward.
2. Rivalry with MJF

Mick Foley has noted that he was at one point set to face AEW’s MJF in a retirement match
Several years ago, Mick Foley revealed that he was supposed to face Maxwell Jacob Friedman in a retirement match.
With both men being Long Island natives, there are a lot of parallels with Foley and MJF that could make for an intriguing feud.
Whether it be Foley stepping back in the ring or merely getting the mic against the former two-time AEW World Champion, it would be must see for the legend to lock horns with MJF in some way.
A rivalry with MJF would be the best way to utilize Foley at this stage of his career and life.
1. Mentor role to Darby Allin

Sting acted as the mentor of Darby Allin during his run with AEW from 2020 to 2024
From his breakneck style in the ring to his current run as AEW World Champion, Darby Allin has drawn comparisons to Mick Foley.
Throughout his legendary career, Foley has put his body on the line that holds ramifications to his life to this day.
Becoming a cautionary tale for someone who works the style of Allin, it would be interesting to have Foley play a mentor to the current AEW World Champion.
Following in the footsteps of his former rival Sting, Foley could guide Darby no matter what happens to him at the AEW Double Or Nothing 2026 pay-per-view.
