Earlier today, WWE released an updated schedule for September, which featured the announcement of the next WWE x AAA Worlds Collide show.
The show is set to take place on September 26 in Chicago, which is the same city and date as AEW’s All Out pay-per-view event.
With WWE now completely battling head to head with AEW, we could see a stacked line up for the show in Chicago.
Here is our predicted card for WWE x AAA Worlds Collide in Chicago.
The Lucha Bros vs. Ethan Page & Rusev
The Lucha Bros had previously spoken about how they would reunite in WWE one day at AAA Rey de Reyes
Earlier this year at AAA’s Rey de Reyes event, Penta and Rey Fenix both appeared on the show, where they opened the show with a promo segment.
During the segment, the two men promised that they would team up together once again in AAA after their previously announced reunion last year was scrapped due to injury.
With Penta likely to drop the Intercontinental Championship to Chad Gable at SummerSlam, we could see he and Fenix finally come together, with this cross promotional event the perfect chance.
Ethan Page and Rusev have been thorns in the side of Penta recently, so them being the foil for the reunited Lucha Bros would make a lot of sense.
El Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr vs. Je’von Evans vs. EK Prosper vs. Axiom
Various AAA stars have been showcased on Raw, SmackDown and NXT in recent months, including El Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr, who challenged for both the United States Championship and the NXT Tag Team Championship alongside his brother Galeno.
Worlds Collide is a great way to showcase underutilised stars, with a quad brand four-way providing a high paced, fun opener.
NXT’s EK Prosper is someone that will eventually be a big player for the brand, and he has all the capability to hang with the very best names in an exciting opener.
Throw in Raw’s Je’von Evans and SmackDown’s Axiom and you’ve got an incredibly exciting showcase match on your hands.
WWE Tag Team Championship & AAA Tag Team Championship Winners Take All: Damian Priest & R-Truth (WWE) vs. War Raiders (AAA)
The War Raiders have been confronting WWE Tag Team Champions R-Truth and Damian Priest on SmackDown in recent weeks
After capturing the AAA Tag Team Championship, Erik and Ivar of the War Raiders have been appearing backstage on SmackDown in recent weeks.
The pair have been teasing a WWE Tag Team and AAA Tag Team Championship winner take all match, with Priest demanding that the match happens on SmackDown instead of in AAA.
However, with Priest himself now also working for AAA, the perfect neutral ground for the match would be this Worlds Collide event in Chicago.
AAA Mixed Tag Team Championship: Mr. Iguana & Lola Vice (c) vs. Johnny Gargano & Candice LeRae
CM Punk told Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae to get back to what they do best last week on SmackDown after months of Gargano laying down backstage
Another Tag Team Championship in AAA is the Mixed Tag Team Championship, currently held by Lola Vice and Mr. Iguana.
After Sami Zayn’s WWE Championship loss, Candice LeRae confronted CM Punk backstage, with Punk telling her and Johnny Gargano to get back to what they do best after months of Gargano laying around backstage.
With Punk specifically saying both Candice and Johnny need to get back into the ring, they would make the perfect challengers for the Mixed Tag Team Championship on a show like Worlds Collide.
Johnny and Candice bringing gold back to the main roster after Sami’s loss would add a new dynamic to their relationship too.
Chad Gable & Los Americanos vs. Los Perros Del Mal
On the June 20 episode of WWE AAA on FOX, Los Perros del Mal were officially reunited, when Karmen Petrovic led Angel, Berto, Daga and Bronco Nima in an attack on El Grande Americano.
El Grande Americano called out Los Perros del Mal last week, with Dominik Mysterio coming to his aid to protect their AAA Mega Championship match at TripleMania.
Dominik Mysterio however is not a long term ally of El Grande Americano, but who could be is Chad Gable, who earned a shared respect of El Grande after their mask vs. mask match at Noche de los Grandes.
Gable as Intercontinental Champion and El Grande as AAA Mega Champion coming together to fend off AAA’s newest threat would make for an incredible moment.
Undisputed WWE Championship & Women’s World Championship Winner Takes All: CM Punk & IYO SKY vs. Dominik Mysterio & Liv Morgan
Dominik Mysterio was CM Punk’s first WWE opponent after his return in 2023, with them facing off on various live events in December 2023
When it was announced that WWE was running a show in Chicago head to head with AEW All Out, everyone had the exact same question; will CM Punk be on the card?
A rivalry between Punk and Dominik Mysterio has been something a lot of fans have been asking for ever since Punk’s return, with them often exchanging words on social media.
While AJ Lee may not be back in WWE in time for Worlds Collide, Punk has allies already in the company, and more importantly, Liv Morgan and Dominik Mysterio have enemies.
To add a major marquee match to the show, CM Punk and IYO SKY would come together to form a dream team against Liv Morgan and Dominik Mysterio, with Punk’s WWE Championship and Liv’s Women’s World Championship both on the line, guaranteeing a new world champion.
