## 9. Darby Allin vs. Hiromu Takahashi – AEW/NJPW Forbidden Door

![](https://cdn.wrestletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Darby-Hiromu-April-2022.jpg)

The opener of this historic event should deliver a jolt of energy to the lively Chicago crowd.

AEW’s Darby Allin can always be count on to bring his high risk, devil-may-care style to any contest he is in, but he may find his match in NJPW’s Hiromu Takahashi.

The four-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion has been known for putting his body on the line in intense battles against the likes of Will Ospreay, KUSHIDA and Minoru Suzuki.

This would be an excellent option to kick off the show in an exciting way.

These two stars would hold nothing back and produce a matchup unlike anything else on the show.

## 8. FTR vs. Guerrillas of Destiny for the ROH & AAA World Tag Team Titles – AEW/NJPW Forbidden Door

![](https://cdn.wrestletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/FTR-GOD-April-2022.jpg)

The AEW tag team division is the best in the business at the moment, but FTR stands at the mountaintop despite not holding the gold in All Elite Wrestling currently.

Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler are the current ROH and AAA World Tag Team Champions. They have also delivered some instant classics in 2022 already.

NJPW’s Guerrillas of Destiny have been the stalwarts of the company’s tag team division, holding the IWGP Tag Team Titles on seven occasions.

Since leaving WWE, FTR have set their sights on the best duos outside of Vince McMahon’s promotion with G.O.D. being mentioned as potential opponents several times.

This would be an all-out brawl that should be physically intense.

FTR putting their two sets of titles on the line should give this bout some high stakes to match the intensity on display.

## 7. Andrade El Idolo vs. Tetsuya Naito – AEW/NJPW Forbidden Door

![](https://cdn.wrestletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Naito-Andrade-April-2022.jpg)

As the Forbidden Door card develops, there should be matches that hold significant history. Here is the first!

AEW’s Andrade El Idolo made a name for himself in NJPW as IWGP Intercontinental Champion, but his past in CMLL is where this dream match will come from.

During a crucial point in their career of NJPW’s Tetsuya Naito, the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion went on excursion to Mexico and found himself joining Andrade in the Los Ingobernables stable.

Andrade, then known as La Sombra, taught Naito how to “tranquilo”, which the NJPW star used when he returned to Japan a new man and formed his own offshoot, Los Ingobernables de Japon.

These two men could use their history to form a compelling story inside the squared circle.

They obviously know each other very well, but this bout would answer who is truly the leader of Los Ingobernables once and for all.

## 6. Samoa Joe vs. Tomohiro Ishii for the ROH TV Title – AEW/NJPW Forbidden Door

![](https://cdn.wrestletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Joe-Ishii-April-2022.jpg)

The introduction of Samoa Joe to All Elite Wrestling has opened the Forbidden Door for many dream matches.

On the April 13 episode of AEW Dynamite, Joe completed one by defeating Minoru Suzuki to win the ROH Television Championship.

At the Forbidden Door event, he can add another to his resume by facing another former ROH TV Champion in NJPW’s Tomohiro Ishii.

This has all the makings to be an absolute banger.

Joe has long been a pioneer of American Strong Style and going at it with one of the best at NJPW Strong Style would deliver a gem.

This dream match could be a showstealer on a night full of barnburners.

## 5. Blackpool Combat Club (Jon Moxley, Wheeler Yuta & Bryan Danielson) vs. Suzuki-Gun (Minoru Suzuki, Taichi & Zack Sabre Jr.) – AEW/NJPW Forbidden Door

![](https://cdn.wrestletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/BCC-Suzuki-Gun-April-2022.jpg)

It’s AEW vs. NJPW, so you have to have some trios action.

The hottest stable in All Elite Wrestling right now is The Blackpool Combat Club. Led by William Regal, he has brought together Jon Moxley, Bryan Danielson and Wheeler Yuta.

The physicality that has been on display by this group towards the rest of the AEW roster and each other could be matched by the Suzuki-Gun group.

Minoru Suzuki is no stranger to All Elite Wrestling and has plenty of history with Jon Moxley.

Meanwhile, the Dangerous Tekkers of Zack Sabre Jr. and Taichi has made up one of the best tag teams in wrestling.

The matchups within this trios match are dream matches within.

You got the established feud of Suzuki and Moxley. Then, there is Wheeler Yuta trying to prove himself against the hard hitting Taichi.

However, everyone will be watching this trios bout for the potential showdown between Bryan Danielson and Zack Sabre Jr.

I could have listed Danielson vs. Sabre Jr., but this could offer this contest a nice change in style with two of the greatest technical wrestlers of their generation.

This is a tantalizing six-man tag that would be tremendous.

## 4. MJF vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi – AEW/NJPW Forbidden Door

![](https://cdn.wrestletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/MJF-Tanahashi-April-2022.jpg)

Here is a Forbidden Door battle of the ultimate good guy vs. the ultimate bad guy.

For nearly two decades, Hiroshi Tanahashi has been the top babyface in New Japan Pro Wrestling.

The eight-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion has beaten a who’s who of competitors and would be a dream opponent for nearly the entire AEW roster.

However, there is probably no better heel to counter Tanahashi than Maxwell Jacob Friedman.

MJF has been one of the best talkers and characters in AEW since the start of the promotion. He has also always delivered in big match situations.

Whether against CM Punk, Chris Jericho or Jon Moxley, MJF has stepped up to whomever has stood across the ring from him.

This would be a matchup that could be the great story-driven to mix things up on this Forbidden Door card.

## 3. The Undisputed Elite (Adam Cole, The Young Bucks & reDRagon) vs. Bullet Club (Switchblade Jay White, KENTA, Chris Bey & The Good Brothers) – AEW/NJPW Forbidden Door

![](https://cdn.wrestletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/UE-White-April-2022.jpg)

When the announcement of AEW/NJPW Forbidden Door was made, it was Adam Cole and Switchblade Jay White who made it official.

White even said that it wouldn’t be about the two companies, but rather the two main stables in The Undisputed Elite and Bullet Club.

There is no better way to showcase that than a showdown between the two groups.

Adam Cole could lead The Young Bucks and reDRagon into battle against his former stable.

On the other side, Switchblade could bring KENTA, IMPACT Wrestling’s Chris Bey and The Good Brothers.

The history between these two sides is plentiful. The Good Brothers actually were members of the Elite throughout last year. helping Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks on several occasions.

This 10-man tag team match is something that fans have wanted for years and finally pay off on the long-awaited Bullet Club Civil War.

## 2. CM Punk vs. Will Ospreay for the AEW World Championship – AEW/NJPW Forbidden Door

![](https://cdn.wrestletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Punk-Ospreay-April-2022.jpg)

In another dream match that has been discussed in the past, CM Punk going one-on-one with Will Ospreay.

This is a bout that both men have expressed desire to make happen.

Punk is on his way to an AEW World Title Match against Hangman Page at Double Or Nothing and could walk in with the gold to add some high stakes here.

Will Ospreay might be the best bell-to-bell wrestler in the world today and seems to always deliver a classic when the lights are their brightest.

Punk’s ability to tell riveting stories against different opponent could offer an outstanding encounter against Ospreay’s versatility.

The former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion can fly, go hold-for-hold and use his incredible speed to defeat any opponent.

There is a certain magic that can be tapped into with this intriguing matchup.

## 1. Kenny Omega vs. Kazuchika Okada for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship – AEW/NJPW Forbidden Door

![](https://cdn.wrestletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Okada-Omega-April-2022.jpg)

This is a match that has been done on four previous occasions, but has never taken place in the United States.

With AEW and NJPW wanting to deliver an all-time great Forbidden Door event, there might not be a bigger main event than Kazuchika Okada vs. Kenny Omega.

The Okada/Omega rivalry put New Japan Pro Wrestling on the map and created many new fans in America.

It also launched Kenny Omega’s career to the stratosphere, while making Okada into a living legend.

To put this matchup on in front of 20,000 fans in Chicago might be the perfect headliner for this legendary event.

Everyone knows that these two have a once-in-a-lifetime chemistry that has delivered some of the greatest matches to ever take place in the squared circle.

With Okada coming in as the current IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, Omega could have a chance to regain the gold that he never got a rematch for when he left NJPW.

The only thing stopping this from being a reality come June 26 is the fact that Omega is currently recovering from a multitude of injuries.

However, if he is back in time for the show, there is no better option for the main event spot.

There is plenty of dream matches to be had between these two promotions, but the history and legacy of Kazuchika Okada vs. Kenny Omega makes it the ideal choice to headline AEW/NJPW Forbidden Door.
