With a fairly underwhelming 2022 edition of the Royal Rumble pay-per-view, sorry, Premium Live Event, behind us, our focus, as well as WWE’s, turns to the most stupendous two night WrestleMania in history!
With both Brock Lesnar and Ronda Rousey emerging from the matches victorious, the top of the card seems to be taking shape, but there are still many matches to fill over the course of the 48 hours.
To preface, last year’s WrestleMania featured seven matches per night, with no matches on the kick-off show. With this year being extra stupendous, I feel WWE will stretch the main card for both nights out to eight matches, with a men’s and women’s Battle Royal taking place on the kick-off show each night.
Notable names that will be featured in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal include Raw Tag Team Champions Alpha Academy (yes, still with the titles), the Street Profits, Cesaro, Ricochet, Dolph Ziggler & Robert Roode, while the Women’s Battle Royal will feature names like Asuka, Rhea Ripley, Alexa Bliss, Liv Morgan, Naomi and Sonya Deville. Bayley’s return I have saved for the Raw or SmackDown after WrestleMania.
Now without further ado, here are 16 matches we could see in AT&T Stadium on April 2 or 3.
Universal Championship – Roman Reigns (c) vs Brock Lesnar
Yep. It’s happening.
Some people seem to think Seth Rollins will be added to the match, but I disagree. I would expect Rollins to get his rematch at the Elimination Chamber event, coming up short before making his way back to Raw, leaving these two to go one-on-one at WrestleMania for the third time.
WWE Championship – Randy Orton (c) vs Riddle
Here’s one that I didn’t think I would be writing literally three hours ago.
Reports have emerged since the Royal Rumble that Riddle was the intended winner of the Royal Rumble match, before WWE made the late decision to add Brock Lesnar to the bout and have him come out on top.
That being said, Riddle vs Lashley would not have been the match. The match for WrestleMania should, and will, be Riddle facing Randy Orton.
With another report today revealing that those within WWE would only want the match happening if the WWE Championship was on the line, expect the Viper to cut the sequel to the All Mighty Era short inside the Elimination Chamber to capture his 15th world championship, before dropping it to his bestest bro on night one of WrestleMania.
