At WWE WrestleMania 42, Roman Reigns will challenge CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship.
Heading into “The Show of Shows,” there are plenty of different options for the result of this main event matchup and what either man will do following the huge event.
From becoming World Heavyweight Champion and top star for Monday Night Raw, to losing his match with Punk and having to regroup, Reigns could have plenty of different directions to go story wise.
Here are eight potential Roman Reigns plans after WWE WrestleMania 42.
8. Going Back To Friday Night SmackDown To Challenge For Undisputed WWE Championship

Before the Netflix premiere of WWE Raw, Roman Reigns had been the face of Friday Night SmackDown for years.
However, Reigns has shown up on Monday Night Raw a lot more often after the past year. Then, “The OTC” won the Men’s Royal Rumble Match to earn a shot at the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 42.
If Reigns is unable to capture the top prize on WWE Raw, this could lead to a course correction on Roman’s brand alignment.
Reigns heading back to Friday Night SmackDown could lead to him challenging for the Undisputed WWE Championship coming off the heels of WrestleMania 42.
7. Rematch With CM Punk
The rivalry between Roman Reigns and CM Punk has gotten extremely personal in the weeks leading to WrestleMania 42.
While Reigns will be looking to dethrone Punk at Mania, this might not be enough to end the issues between these two men.
Coming out of WrestleMania 42, there might be even more of a score to be settled in the months to come.
A rematch and continued rivalry with Punk would be the biggest story of the year for WWE moving forward if it were to go on after “The Showcase of the Immortals.”
6. Finally Facing A Returning Bron Breakker

On the WWE Raw After WrestleMania 41, Bron Breakker helped Seth Rollins and Paul Heyman in a beatdown on Roman Reigns and CM Punk to form The Vision.
Since then, Breakker has crossed paths with Reigns on several different occasions and have faced off in tag team or multi-man matches.
However, WWE have smartly held off for a big singles showdown between Reigns and Breakker over the past year.
If “The OTC” walks out of WrestleMania 42 with the World Heavyweight Championship, it should set up a returning Breakker to be one of the first challengers for the top prize on Monday Night Raw.
5. Officially Reuniting With The Usos To Form A Bloodline Reboot
Over the past months, fans have been seeing Roman Reigns and The Usos interacting with one another similar to their days in The Bloodline.
After CM Punk disrespected Roman’s late father and their family in general, The Usos have firmly been aligned with Reigns against “The Best in the World.”
While Jey and Jimmy Uso have been dealing with IShowSpeed and The Vision in recent weeks, the former World Tag Team Champions could also help their cousin against Punk in the Mania main event.
Reigns and The Usos reuniting could form a Bloodline reboot this time on Monday Night Raw with “The OTC” now holding the World Heavyweight Championship.
4. Defending The World Heavyweight Championship Against His Cousin Jey Uso

While there could be a formal reunion of The Bloodline, the story that has been told between Roman Reigns and CM Punk could lead to some redemption for “The OTC.”
Reigns wanting to give his family bigger opportunities could see him win the World Heavyweight Championship and defend it against Jey Uso.
It was Jey who called the shot for Reigns to brutally beat down Punk on the March 23 edition of Monday NIght Raw.
Giving Jey another shot at the title that he won at WrestleMania 41 would be fitting and become a full circle moment to the beginning days of The Bloodline.
3. Rekindling His Feud With Seth Rollins
On the April 6 episode of Monday Night Raw, Seth Rollins stated that one of his goals following his return is that he wants to win back the World Heavyweight Championship that he never lost.
Having never dropped the title due to injury, Rollins should be one of the top contenders for the gold coming out of WrestleMania 42.
Regardless of the result of his match with GUNTHER, “The Visionary” could come after his career rival in Roman Reigns.
Reigns facing off with Rollins and getting revenge for his loss at Mania 41 just makes a ton of sense and should make for a compelling story between the former Shield members.
2. Rivalry With GUNTHER

One of the top stars that Roman Reigns has never gone one-on-one with in a WWE ring is GUNTHER.
The two men have only crossed paths once with Reigns eliminating GUNTHER from the 2026 Men’s Royal Rumble Match to win and punch his ticket for WrestleMania 42.
Coming off the heels of Mania, GUNTHER should be front and center as one of the top contenders for the World Heavyweight Championship regardless of who walks out with the gold.
Being a former two-time champion in his own right, “The Ring General” squaring off with “The OTC” would be a tantalizing battle that could be one of the best of the year in WWE.
1. Dream Match With Oba Femi
At WrestleMania 42, Oba Femi will go one-on-one with Brock Lesnar in the biggest match of his young career.
If Femi is to defeat “The Beast Incarnate,” it should immediately thrust him up the card and make him a threat to whomever is the World Heavyweight Champion.
Roman Reigns has squared off with a who’s who of main event talent throughout his entire run in WWE, but there might not be anyone quite like “The Ruler.”
Whether it be immediately after WrestleMania 42 or down the line at WWE SummerSlam 2026, the company has a showdown of epic proportions coming between Reigns and Femi whenever they decide to pull the trigger.
