WWE
WWE WrestleMania 43 is set to take place in April 2027, airing from Riyadh Saudi Arabia for the first time ever.
With Sami Zayn always receiving huge reactions in Saudi Arabia, there has been some speculation about plans for the former Undisputed WWE Universal Champion heading into the Show of Shows.
From attempting to reclaim his gold to rekindling old rivalries, there are a number of options for Sami Zayn’s role at the Showcase of the Immortals.
Here are five potential opponents for Sami Zayn at WWE WrestleMania 43.
Cody Rhodes
Sami Zayn won his first Undisputed WWE Championship at Night of Champions, pinning Cody Rhodes in a three-way match also featuring GUNTHER to win the gold.
While Cody Rhodes was meant to challenge for the gold nine days later on WWE Raw, it was actually CM Punk who faced Zayn and won the gold, a last-minute replacement following Rhodes being attacked backstage.
Zayn and Rhodes have both remained close to the Undisputed WWE Championship picture since then. We could see the duo finally have their one-on-one match at WrestleMania 43, either for the title, or to determine the #1 contender.
Trick Williams
At WrestleMania 42, Trick Williams defeated Sami Zayn to win the WWE United States Championship.
With the results of this match and the subsequent rematch at Backlash influenced by Lil Yachty’s interference, we could see Sami Zayn challenge for the gold one final time, with someone in his corner to counteract the numbers game.
If WWE doesn’t have plans for Sami Zayn in a world title picture come April, this bout would be a good option to give the former champion a win in front of the Saudi Arabian crowd.
CM Punk
Sami Zayn’s title reign left a lot to be desired, with CM Punk winning the gold on the July 6 Raw episodes, just nine days after Zayn reached the top of the mountain.
With Zayn interfering in numerous matches to remain in the Undisputed WWE Championship picture, we could soon see the one-time WWE Champ exercise his demons and defeat CM Punk.
While Zayn and Punk are scheduled to face off on Friday Night SmackDown in Mexico City, there is every chance that this match is used to sow seeds for a much bigger one-on-one encounter.
Drew McIntyre
It’s fair to say that Drew McIntyre is Sami Zayn’s white whale, with Sami Zayn having never defeated McIntyre one-on-one.
Sami Zayn looked to pick up his first win over McIntyre in huge fashion at Royal Rumble, when he challenged for the Scottish Warrior’s WWE Championship.
It wasn’t meant to be on that date, however, with McIntyre picking up his 13th singles victory over Zayn.
Amid speculation about Drew McIntyre’s WWE return, we could see the Scottish star play the villain once again, as Sami Zayn attempts to topple perhaps his greatest foe.
Roman Reigns
Sami Zayn’s run with the Bloodline and eventual exit from the group culminated with a WWE Undisputed Universal Championship match, with Zayn unsuccessfully challenging for Roman Reigns’ gold at Elimination Chamber 2023.
While he couldn’t get the job done in front of his home-country crowd, WrestleMania 43 would be another opportunity for the Honorary Uce to dethrone the Tribal Chief in front of a passionate crowd.
Roman Reigns has been the World Heavyweight Champion since defeating CM Punk at WrestleMania 42.
If he still holds the gold in April, Sami Zayn would be one of the more exciting choices to challenge for the championship.
