Six Potential Opponents If Drew McIntyre Wins At SummerSlam

Six Potential Opponents If Drew McIntyre Wins At SummerSlam

WWE’s biggest party of the Summer, SummerSlam is merely two weeks away and is starting to form into quite the stacked card. One of the huge marquee matches to be taking place at this show is the WWE Championship match between Drew McIntyre and Randy Orton.

McIntyre has been a dominant champion and doesn’t look to be slowing down anytime soon. Also, Randy Orton has been doing some of the best work in his illustrious career. He is going into SummerSlam hot off of “killing” legends such as Edge, Christian and Big Show.

With both men at the top of the red brand’s ladder, it is quite difficult to predict who will take the fall during this match. Are they going to continue running the McIntyre train? Or will they capitalize on the biggest heel on Raw?

This rivalry could also go further than this PPV and so it should. They are great story-tellers and when Orton is fired up – oh boy! We are in for a treat!

However, let’s picture Orton receiving a Claymore for his troubles. McIntyre then moves onto new competition. Who should he face? Here are ‘Six Potential Opponents If Drew McIntyre Wins At SummerSlam’:

6. Seth Rollins

The ‘Monday Night Messiah’ was actually McIntyre’s second title defense at Money In The Bank earlier this year. However, it never felt like their story was over.

Rollins is one of those people that you can throw into the title picture at any time and the chance of a title change heightens. Furthermore, this feels like a different Messiah since their last encounter.

Previously, when Rollins lost to McIntyre, he shook his hand in respect. But Rollins has gone off the beaten path since then. He has derailed so far to even get into a position where he had to force the eye out of Rey Mysterio.

This mad Seth Rollins would add to an interesting dynamic against a clear-headed, McIntyre. Seeing this match again wouldn’t be the worst idea as they do have good chemistry and can put on a good show.

5. Andrade

These two have faced each other on a few occasions. Most notably, Andrade defeated McIntyre for the NXT Championship at NXT Takeover: WarGames, injuring McIntyre’s bicep in the process. McIntyre then beat him on the Raw After ‘Mania upon winning the WWE Championship.

However, he hasn’t had the opportunity to face McIntyre on a marquee PPV for the WWE Title. That should happen. There is plenty of evidence that they work well together and a main event type match could be an instant classic.

If he and Garza lose against the Street Profits at SummerSlam, Andrade could be freed up to challenge for the WWE Championship. Or we could see McIntyre defend his title against…

4. Angel Garza

WWE’s biggest romantic is also one of WWE’s greatest wrestlers. There is a reason why Vince McMahon believes he can be the new “Eddie Guerrero”.

Either having a singles match against McIntyre or a triple threat with Andrade involved could create for some exceptional moments.  What better way to create a name for yourself than challenge the biggest bounty on the show?

McIntyre is also incredible at putting his opponents over in defeat and he can truly make a credible star out of Garza.
