Six Potential Opponents If Drew McIntyre Wins At SummerSlam

3. Apollo Crews

The current United States Champion is scheduled for a rematch with Hurt Business Executive, MVP at SummerSlam. What if he loses? Does WWE just give up on the Apollo Crews push? I really hope not. They have surprisingly turned him from a smiling nobody into a big deal within a few months!

Apollo Crews vs. Drew McIntyre does sound like an interesting match-up. Crews has astounding strength and seeing him showcase his power against McIntyre would be a treat.

Obviously, Crews would need a lot more momentum to challenge for the biggest title if it was on a WrestleMania or a Survivor Series. However, as a WWE title match on a show like Clash of Champions? That is a possibility.

They could even add more drama to the match by turning Crews heel like he has been rumoured to become since being moved to Raw.

2. Shane McMahon

Please don’t laugh. This could definitely happen in a WWE ring and with Shane McMahon back and falling ratings, this isn’t outside of WWE’s realm of possibility.

Shane McMahon made his first appearance since being “fired” in October as he introduced Raw Underground.

This ‘Fight Club’ type wrestling could add more differences to a show which people believe has been getting more stale since fans were removed. McMahon was obviously placed back on the show as the host of this hidden wrestling show to pop the ratings back.

With the “Best in the World” back, there is the slight chance we see him sweat, throw punches and sweat again in an actual wrestling match. This could also happen on his own turf with a Championship match taking place at Raw Underground.

McMahon and McIntyre do share history in the ring. Last year, McIntyre was heel and was the lackey to McMahon’s terrorizing group alongside Elias and Bobby Lashley. He even teamed with McMahon to face Roman Reigns and The Undertaker at last year’s Extreme Rules.

This alliance is long since behind them but a WWE Championship match could be an opportunity for McIntyre to once again prove that he is his own man.

1. Aleister Black

Let’s end on a good note…

Last time we saw the mysterious, Aleister Black he got his eye shoved into the corner of steel steps by Seth Rollins. This was apparently done to remove Black from the show for a while as WWE is interested in a gimmick change for Black.

This could be another “Emmalina” situation, if it is or not, we all can agree that Aleister Black deserves more than being an ally to Rey Mysterio.

One great way to push Black would be to have him face the WWE Champion for said title at a PPV. Aleister Black vs Drew McIntyre sounds like a dream match which has astonishingly not happened yet. The limits these two can go against each other are boundless and a main event rivalry between the two, with a fresh character for Black, could be mouthwatering!

Overall, it is clear that McIntyre has lots of potential challengers if he can overcome “The Viper” at SummerSlam. However, the story and complexity of the rivalry will only be fantastic if WWE lets it write itself. Just allow McIntyre and whoever, to put on a clinic in the ring!
