Ten Best Survivor Series Matches Since The 2016 Draft

8. Charlotte Flair vs. Ronda Rousey – Survivor Series 2018

Continuing the dream matches that have occurred at Survivor Series in the last four years, we move on to Charlotte Flair vs. Ronda Rousey.

The hype built for Rousey vs. Lynch was monumental, the invasion of RAW from Team Smackdown was the point Becky Lynch truly became a star. Becky standing at the top of the arena with a broken nose and blood covered all over her face was unintentionally perfect. Despite this, fans criticised the feud for happening too soon. So while it was devastating for Becky that she missed the event, Charlotte Flair replacing her not only prolonged the Becky/Ronda feud but also created a great match.

This put both superstars over and presented them as the top of the women’s division. It felt like both stars came for a brawl, with Ronda’s mouth cut open and Charlotte getting disqualified with a kendo stick shot to finish the match. Both women were protected and helped to build to the triple threat at Wrestlemania the next year. This was exciting, hard-hitting and absolutely brilliant.

7. Buddy Murphy vs. Mustafa Ali – Survivor Series 2018

While this followed the Drake Maverick peeing himself angle, meaning anything after that would seem like Kenny Omega vs. Kazuchika Okada, this match like so many other Ali vs. Murphy matches, was spectacular.

While I would argue their No DQ match on 205 Live was their best match, this was a very close second with the Cruiserweight Championship getting a deserved place with deserved time on a ‘Big Four’ pay per view. This included spots such as an incredible Tope Con Hilo by Murphy, Ali getting pushed off the top rope to the barricade on the outside, a Poisionrana and a Spanish Fly off the announce table.

Two of some of the best wrestlers in the company, and hopefully the future. If you haven’t seen any of the matches on this list and you enjoy high-flying, quick paced action, you should check this out.

6. Brock Lesnar vs. AJ Styles – Survivor Series 2017

Prior to AJ Styles winning the WWE Championship on Smackdown a couple weeks before this show, the originally advertised match for this Survivor Series was Brock Lesnar vs. Jinder Mahal… and similar to the last entry, anything different to that would make it better, and it sure was.

Brock Lesnar facing off against anyone smaller than him always makes it much more fun. Lesnar is able to German Suplex people across the ring and creating a David vs. Goliath structured match. Despite Brock dominating most of this, AJ Styles’ comeback with the repeated target to the left leg of Lesnar eventually leading to the Calf Crusher was just perfect. Brock selling here is beyond remarkable, it puts AJ over so strongly and only makes for better viewing.

This made both top champions look like stars and protected both men despite Styles losing not so long after winning the belt. When Brock cares about a feud or a match, you can see so clearly that he wants to turn up and put on a memorable fight for the fans, and this is a great example of that.
