At WWE WrestleMania 40, The Rock made his in-ring return, teaming with Roman Reigns to defeat Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins.

Since then, there have been various reports about “The Final Boss” returning for one more match inside a WWE ring.

Despite appearing several times in 2025, the 10-time WWE World Champion has not stepped back in the squared circle, which has only added to the speculation on who he could eventually have his next match against.

Looking at the current roster of talent, here are eight potential options for The Rock’s next WWE opponent.

8. Cody Rhodes

Immediately following WrestleMania 40, it looked like Cody Rhodes was destined to be The Rock’s next opponent.

After “The Final Boss” pinned “The American Nightmare” in the aforementioned tag team bout and then Rhodes went on to finish his story by winning the Undisputed WWE Championship, it seemed like a foregone conclusion the two stars would meet one-on-one.

Although he was directly responsible for John Cena’s shocking heel turn and beat down on Cody at WWE Elimination Chamber 2025, The Rock has not appeared on the company’s programming since then and has not teased when he could return for an in-ring comeback.

When the time is right for his return to the company, Rhodes must remain at the top of the list for possible opponents for The Rock to have one more match against.
