John Cena Enters The Men’s Elimination Chamber
Austin Theory is such a bizarre, confusing character at this point.
Don’t get me wrong, he’s great, but when he was brought up to the main roster in 2021 his entire gimmick seemed to boil down to “Mr McMahon’s new toy”.
While at the time it made total sense to pit him against a prior McMahon favorite – namely John Cena – at some point in the future, the logic behind that has become kind of shaky ever since Vince departed for Parts Unknown (i.e. anywhere except on television).
That being said, a Theory/Cena match up still sounds like a pretty good time to me, so what better time to start laying the foundation than at the Men’s Elimination Chamber match for the US Championship?
You could have this go a few ways to set up a match at ‘Mania: Cena beats Theory and the two have a rematch in April for the belt; Cena causes somebody other than Theory to win and they have a ‘Mania grudge match; or maybe Theory retains and Cena does that weird heel-babyface thing where he just uses his clout to get a rematch.
You could also just have Cena interfere in the match, rather than being a full participant.
Hey, speaking of interference…
