DIY (c) vs. Motor City Machine Guns – WWE Tag Team Championship 2/3 Falls Match
As well as the Royal Rumble matches themselves, the Rumble event will play host to a rare sighting – a men’s tag team championship match at a WWE premium live event.
Believe it or not, this is the first men’s tag team championship match on a WWE PLE since both the titles were split up in the six-team ladder match at WrestleMania last April.
The defending champions are DIY, who won the championship from the Motor City Machine Guns by turning heel in early December.
The SmackDown tag team division has essentially been rebuilt around MCMG after they signed with WWE in October and they’re very much deserving of a spot at the top of the division as champions – especially by picking up a win on a stage as big as the Royal Rumble.
It could go either way, but the 2/3 falls stipulation could lend itself to a really big babyface reaction for MCMG if they come from 1-0 down to win – so if this was a normal match the prediction might be DIY, but given those rules, it could be MCMG’s night.
