Where Every Released WWE Star Should Go Next

Where Every Released WWE Star Should Go Next

Kurt Angle – AEW

Kurt Angle is the first released WWE star on this list. While he is retired from the ring, Angle is still a very valuable performer and character. Looking at the whole of his most recent WWE run, the company didn’t get much out of it.

If Angle wants to remain an on-screen personality, AEW is where to go. Impact would have been another choice but let’s face it, Impact is a shell of its former self. In AEW, Angle could be a phenomenal manager. Also, if he wanted to have a proper sendoff match there are tons of candidates better than Baron Corbin.

Drake Maverick – Impact

Drake Maverick is an emotional one as displayed by his video message after his release. He spent most of his WWE career as the 205Live general manager and manager of AoP. If you saw his run in Impact as Rockstar Spud you know he is a talented performer in the ring and out.

Impact is likely the best fit for him as he has history with the promotion. He could do well in many places such as RevPro but Impact just feels like home for him.

Karl Anderson – New Japan Pro Wrestling

It seems like a foregone conclusion that Karl Anderson will be returning to New Japan Pro Wrestling. Following his release, Anderson posted a video on Twitter of a journey to Japan with a callback to his Machine Gun nickname. Anderson remains one of the best Bullet Club members ever and he could slot right back into that faction.

Bet on this one.

EC3 – AEW or Impact

EC3 is perhaps the biggest example of wasted potential on this list. He was dead in the water on the main roster almost immediately and it was clear he was frustrated. He has already taken to Twitter to do a ton of character work and it is obvious that he will pop up somewhere else. The two best options for him are AEW and Impact.

AEW is home to many great talkers, which EC3 would fit right into. He also seems like a good fit as a partner with MJF although they are perhaps too similar. Promos are EC3’s strong suit and AEW could be a good home for him. He could also find himself returning to Impact. Considering “EC3” stands for Ethan Carter III, returning to Impact as the nephew of disgraced former owner Dixie Carter could be a great angle.
