As we know by now, WWE Survivor Series is the one night of the year that Raw and SmackDown Live go head-to-head in direct competition. And, as we know by now, that is absolutely not true.
Nonetheless, this week’s Raw and SmackDown shows kicked off the build to the final ‘big four’ event of the calendar year, with many of the names appearing on the show confirmed and seeing the traditional five-on-five Survivor Series elimination match teams begin to fill out.
There will be three traditional elimination matches this year. One for the women, one for the men, and one for tag teams. We’re going to take a look at the confirmed fields for those matches so far, and a few of the candidates who could fill the empty spots.
Up first, the tag teams…
Well, this graphic is somewhat confusing, because of course, the New Day and the Usos will both be on Team SmackDown, as was confirmed on the show this past Tuesday.
The only other teams on SmackDown with Rowan of the Bludgeon Brothers out injured are:
- SAnitY
- The Colons
- Gallows & Anderson
So basically, there’s not really much to choose from there, is there? The only way it won’t be those five teams representing the blue brand will be if they call up an NXT tag team, which I doubt massively, or just put two singles guys together and pass them off as a team, which… well… that’s cheating. So they’ll probably do that then.
No Raw teams have been announced, but much like SmackDown, it’s not like there’s much choice:
- The Revival
- The B-Team
- Roode & Gable
- The Ascension
- Rhyno & Slater
- The Lucha House Party
I think the first four of them are pretty much dead certs, so for me the fifth spot comes down to either Rhyno & Slater or the Lucha House Party. With the former not being seen on Raw since June, and not winning on Raw since October of 2017, the Lucha House Party seems the most likely. They only made their debut a couple of weeks ago and won, so, it makes sense. I suppose.
So, all in all, the match is likely going to look like this:
The Usos, New Day, SAnitY, the Colons and Gallows & Anderson vs. The Revival, The B-Team, Roode & Gable, Ascension and Lucha House Party
On the next page, we’ll take a look at the possibilities for the women’s match.
