# Why Kendal Grey will betray Wren Sinclair at WWE NXT Halloween Havoc: A major heel turn at the next PLE

At WWE NXT Halloween Havoc 2026, Wren Sinclair will challenge Kelani Jordan for the NXT Women’s Championship.

On the road to this match, Sinclair’s WrenQCC stablemate and best friend Kendal Grey recently made her return from injury.

This has led to some speculation that Grey may turn her back on Sinclair during this title bout.

Here are four reasons why Kendal Grey will betray Wren Sinclair at WWE NXT Halloween Havoc 2026.

## Losing the NXT Women’s Championship & suffering an injury

At WWE NXT Heatwave 2026, [Kelani Jordan](https://wrestletalk.com/features/kelani-jordan-next-wwe-nxt-womens-championship-challenger/) defeated Kendal Grey to win the NXT Women’s Championship.

This loss proved to be devastating for Grey, who suffered an injury during the bout.

Prior to this contest, Grey had a serious ear injury in her NXT Underground Match against Lola Vice, which helped Jordan take the title from her.

This led to several weeks of Grey being on the shelf and may have birthed some frustration due to being out of the squared circle.

## The emotional toil of the past few months

After losing the NXT Women’s Championship and suffering a serious ear injury, [Kendal Grey](https://wrestletalk.com/news/wwe-hall-of-famer-praise-nxt-womens-champion-kendal-grey/) also developed vertigo.

This led to a drastic emotional toil due to being out of the ring for the former NXT Women’s Champion.

From there, Grey started to have a series of therapy sessions to get to the bottom of all the emotions she’s had to deal with.

During these sessions, Grey revealed that she felt like she didn’t really have any friends she could go to and was completely focused on in-ring competition. This could have gave fans a glimpse at Grey’s true feelings towards Wren Sinclair.

## A first time role ahead of an eventual WWE main roster call-up

WWE likes to prepare NXT stars before their main roster call-up by having them play different roles.

Since her debut, [Kendal Grey](https://wrestletalk.com/news/wwe-nxt-kendal-grey-struggles-entertainment-wrestling/) has mostly been featured as a determined babyface.

With all signs pointing towards an eventual main roster debut, Grey could be groomed for the next level by having her turn heel.

Grey turning on Wren Sinclair could help her develop more as a character before she becomes a regular presence on Monday Night Raw and Friday Night SmackDown.

## Feeling her best friend took her opportunity

On the October 6 episode of WWE NXT, [Wren Sinclair](https://wrestletalk.com/features/wren-sinclair-wwe-nxt-future-plans/) won the #1 Contender’s Battle Royal by entering as Lucha Libre AAA star Lady Shani.

When Kendal Grey returned on the October 13 episode, she questioned Sinclair on not telling her about what she had planned.

Now, Wren finds herself one win away from winning the NXT Women’s Championship for herself.

Feeling like she is owed a rematch, Kendal could see Wren’s recent success as a betrayal of their friendship and turn on her when it matters the most against Kelani Jordan at WWE NXT Halloween Havoc 2026.
