WrestleTalk News Round-up – September 22, 2018

Welcome to this evening’s edition of the WrestleTalk News Round-up, in which we take a look at the little bits and bobs from throughout the day to make sure there’s nothing you’ve missed and you can happily head to bed with a wealth of knowledge about what’s gone on in the world of wrestling today!

IMPACT viewership drops

The numbers are in for this week’s IMPACT viewership and unfortunately they have decreased from last week.

This past Thursday’s show was the first IMPACT show ever to air from Mexico City and featured a World Heavyweight Championship defense from Austin Aries, as he defeated Tejano Jr.

The show drew 229,000 viewers, which is down from 258,000 last week. IMPACT did have some tough competition though, especially from the NFL.

WWE Mixed Match Challenge team names revealed

This past Tuesday was the first episode of season two of the Mixed Match Challenge. The show saw Braun Strowman and Ember Moon defeat Kevin Owens and Natalya, and AJ Styles and Charlotte Flair fend off Jimmy Uso and Naomi.

All the team names have been released and… well I’ll let you judge for yourself.

  • Monster Eclipse (Braun Strowman and Ember Moon)
  • B ‘n’ B (Finn Bálor and Bayley)
  • Mahalicia (Jinder Mahal and Alicia Fox)
  • Team Pawz (Kevin Owens and Natalya)
  • Fenomenal Flair (AJ Styles and Charlotte Flair)
  • The Fabulous Truth (R-Truth and Carmella)
  • Ravishing Rusev Day (Rusev and Lana)
  • Day One Glow (Jimmy Uso and Naomi)

I’m not cringing at all.

With Sasha Banks having to exit the competition due to injury, Mickie James has replaced the ‘Boss’ with Mickie James as Bobby Lashley’s partner, and are asking for votes on their team name.

Jeff Hardy update

Jeff Hardy flopped off the top of Hell in a Cell ceiling through a table last Sunday, but apparently, because he’s Jeff Hardy, that’s no big deal.

Hardy was already wrestling on house shows only a day after the pay-per-view which saw him lose the opening bout to Randy Orton, and according to Rajah.com, a planned long-term injury storyline has been scrapped and he’ll be back on TV very soon.

The poor bloke.
