2025 has been a year of many departures from WWE, including plenty of big names who were somewhat unexpectedly let go.

Here are 11 names released by WWE this year who had previously held championships on the main roster.

We wish them all the best in whatever their futures hold.

11. Carlito

R-Truth announced his WWE departure and returned a week later, but the same couldn’t be said for Carlito.

Although he didn’t hold gold in his latest run from 2023 onwards, Carlito is a former United States, Intercontinental and two-time Tag Team Champion.

It wasn’t Carlito’s departure that was a huge surprise as much as the fact that there was no write-off for him on TV, he just disappeared.

Even Carlito himself has said that he felt it was a bit disrespectful to fans for there to be no storyline explanation for him being gone.
