2024 has unfortunately been far from a banner year for tag team competition in the WWE, despite an abundance of talent within the Raw, NXT and SmackDown rosters.
With not a single men’s tag title defence on a PLE since WrestleMania, some changes may be required to give the division a shot in the arm heading into the latter months of the year.
While new team formations are a great way to do that, the return of a pre-established team can often be even more exciting for fans.
Here are six WWE tag teams to reunite on TV soon.
6. The War Raiders
Of course technically speaking, Ivar and Erik of The Viking Raiders never broke up, with their team being forced into a split due to injury to the latter in late 2023.
While Ivar impressed as a solo act during this time, he too would take an on-screen hiatus due to “nagging” injuries leaving the group’s immediate status uncertain.
That was until this past week’s WWE Raw (September 23), where a teaser aired that seemed to suggest the return of The Viking Raiders.
Only perhaps this time with a key change calling back to their days in NXT.
According to WrestleVotes, Ivar and Erik could be set for a return to their previous name of The War Raiders, which they competed as in Triple H’s NXT between 2018-2019.
This would not only be a welcome change by fans of that run, but also give a well-needed boost to Raw’s tag team division.
