It took the Motor City Machine Guns just one week to ascend the WWE tag team ladder, becoming champions in just their third bout in the company on SmackDown in Brooklyn, NY (October 25).
Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin have certainly earned it, however, their win may also push some established teams further to the side, perhaps even to the point of a split altogether.
While that may be true on SmackDown, there are also teams on Raw, NXT and in the women’s division that may also be facing a breakup very soon.
Here are seven WWE tag teams to split up soon.
7. DIY

Just a three short months ago Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa were enjoying their first run as WWE Tag Team Champions, finally capturing their first main roster prize after defeating A-Town Down Under.
Sadly, just 28 days later, DIY’s run came to an end in what was only their third title defence at the hands of The Bloodline. While this was by no means a shock at the time given the opposition, many would have hoped their time in the sun would come again.
Sadly, after being defeated by Motor City Machine Guns on SmackDown they are as far away as ever. In that number one contender’s match, Gargano hit Ciampa with an inadvertent super-kick, leading to them losing the match shortly thereafter.
Afterwards Ciampa posted a still image of that kick, leading many fans to believe this was a tease that the former Blackheart could be once again on the verge of stabbing Johnny Wrestling in the back.
