Now that WrestleMania 41 is in the rearview mirror, WWE has all eyes set on St Louis, Missouri for the upcoming Backlash 2025 event.
The April 21 Raw After Mania set things in motion heading into their major premium live event on Saturday, May 10.
With Friday Night SmackDown sure to further put pieces in place for the new season of WWE, there are any number of matches that could be scheduled and announced for the first major event after “The Show of Shows.”
Here are seven matches to potentially be added to WWE Backlash 2025.
John Cena (c) vs. Randy Orton – Undisputed WWE Championship
At WrestleMania 41 night two, John Cena defeated Cody Rhodes to win the Undisputed WWE Championship.
After becoming the most decorated world champion of all time with his 17th world title win, Cena declared that the fans are on a countdown clock of 27 more dates before he retires with the gold.
This led to Cena’s long time rival and St Louis native Randy Orton coming from behind to hit him with the RKO, making a statement and declaring himself the next challenger for the top prize in WWE.
WWE Backlash 2025 should be the site of the final match between Orton and Cena where the two legends will do battle for Undisputed WWE Championship in the main event.
