The WWE Backlash PLE is being headlined by two of the company’s biggest legends.
In the main event, John Cena – continuing his hate-fuelled retirement tour – defends the Undisputed WWE Title against longtime rival Randy Orton.
With legends already in the spotlight, Backlash could be the perfect stage for iconic names from the past to make a surprise return.
Here are five legendary figures who could show up at the event.
5. “Cowboy” Bob Orton
In the build-up to the show’s main event, Randy Orton’s family legacy has been repeatedly spotlighted.
A third-generation star, Orton has taken John Cena’s threats to “ruin wrestling” as deeply personal, fuming that the industry has given his family everything.
On the final SmackDown before the event, Cena mocked Orton’s repeated attempts to remind fans of his heritage.
These references to Orton’s lineage could culminate in a surprise return at Backlash, with his father, “Cowboy” Bob Orton – a star of the WrestleMania I main event – making an appearance to support his son.
