WWE Extreme Rules 2018 Preview

Finn Bálor vs. Baron Corbin

Another match not worthy of a pay-per-view.

Unless it’s some kind of hardcore blood feud, non-title matches almost never belong on a pay-per-view, and you don’t have to look any further than this match for that point to be proven.

Although Corbin is doing arguably the best work of his WWE career in his Constable Corbin role, and Finn Bálor is always wonderful, you can’t help but feel that time could be better spent giving the matches that count more time.

Complaints about modern pay-per-views generally circulate around the topic of matches being too short and too saturated. Just look at any NXT: TakeOver from the past three years. A small number of matches all given a good length of time, and you know what? Fans love it.

If I hear that AJ Styles is facing Rusev for the WWE Title, I want to see a good 25 minutes of in-ring action, not eight minutes with a screwy finish.

Anyway, Bálor vs. Corbin…errrr, I’ll go for Baron because his hair is better now.

Prediction – Baron Corbin

Braun Strowman vs. Kevin Owens (Steel Cage Match)

Do WWE understand what bullying is? Having watched this story unfold and the countless Nia Jax/Alexa Bliss segments, you would argue probably not.

Strowman has been tormenting Owens for weeks; flipping his car and throwing a port-a-potty off the stage with Owens inside…but wait it’s OK because Strowman’s the good guy!

And how it rewards such obvious bullying? Well, put the two men in a steel cage of course. Against all the odds, however, I am very confident in saying Owens is going to win this one.

Almost certainly, Strowman will get too carried away in his beat-down and somehow throw Owens through the door or through the cage. I just hope they don’t fall through at the same time so we can avoid watching Owens moan about how his feet touched the floor first for months…*cough*Roman*cough*

Prediction – Kevin Owens
