WWE
After a 23-year run in the company, John Cena is set to retire following his final match on the December 13 WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event.
With the Last Time Is Now Tournament currently ongoing, fans could be about to find out who will be next in line to take Cena’s spot.
Whether they be in the tournament or not, the company will have to think about who is ready and prepared to take the mantle that will be left behind by the record-breaking 17-time WWE World Champion.
Here are nine potential WWE replacements for John Cena.
9. Cody Rhodes

At WWE SummerSlam 2025 Night Two, Cody Rhodes defeated John Cena to win the Undisputed WWE Championship.
Regaining the title for a second time, things went a lot differently than WrestleMania 41 with Cena and Rhodes showing respect to one another.
In what had to be a “passing of the torch” moment, this solidified Cena’s status as the established face of WWE.
With Cena about to retire from in-ring competition, it makes a ton of sense for Rhodes to be chosen as the replacement for Cena moving forward.
