WWE Matches Of The Week #10

WWE Matches Of The Week #10

Hello all and welcome to my ‘WWE Matches of the Week’. As always, I am here to provide you with the best bouts put on by the company across its four main shows over the past seven days. These are RawSmackDown Live205 Live and NXT for those of you who are still somehow confused.

Without any special events like the WWE UK Championship Tournament or Money In The Bank, for example, the company actually had to rely on its standard viewing. I’ll let you know now, in terms of match quality, they shouldn’t have.

Nevertheless, there were still a few moments of greatness so without further ado, let’s get cracking!

SmackDown Live
Team Hell No (Daniel Bryan & Kane) vs. The Usos

Since Raw was a shambles – again – we’ll kick things off this week with the dream match we didn’t know we wanted. Team Hell No reunited to take on the Usos and the match was all kinds of fun. Any match that has Jimmy and Jey in will automatically be good because they’re one of the best tag teams in the world. Kane and Daniel Bryan’s reunion was just the icing on the cake.

I hadn’t realized how much I had missed them as an act until their collective return but I am so glad they’re back and in action. Another great part of this match was that I totally forgot about Bryan’s previous injury. He works like it never happened and continues to prove that ring rust does not exist. That said, Kane is definitely not who he used to be in the ring but it’s hidden in tag team competition so who can complain?

205 Live
No Disqualification Match
Mustafa Ali vs. Buddy Murphy

This is where the real action began though. Buddy Murphy and Mustafa Ali have had one hell of a rivalry over the past few months and it continued here in fantastic fashion. The two had a no-disqualification rubber match to determine once and for all who was the better man and it was awesome. However, I don’t think I have ever hated a crowd so much in my life.

The big prop of the match was the lower half of the steel steps. Everything Ali and Murphy used them for was unique and looked incredible. Yet the crowd were sat there chanting “no more stairs” like ungrateful children. Regardless, the competitors shut them up pretty quickly by performing a Superplex from the top of the stairs when they were stood upright in the corner.

There was also another cracking Spanish Fly spot which again involved the announcer’s table but it was still brilliant and as the table didn’t give an inch, it looked so painful. I can’t say it enough. Go and watch 205 Live if you don’t already. It makes the main roster look like a joke.

NXT
EC3 vs. Johnny Gargano

I’m genuinely not quite sure what to make of this one. It was a great match which made both men look good. But it was the narrative that really drove it home. EC3 is a solid talent on the roster and NXT has been slowly building him up. Johnny Gargano is on another level, however, and that was displayed here.

‘Johnny Wrestling’ took a heavy defeat to Tommaso Ciampa at NXT TakeOver: Chicago II and this match proved that it still haunts him. He replayed moments including the finish which saw a spiked DDT through the ropes end the match. I can’t wait to see how this saga unfolds because every time either man are on screen, they make you want more. When their respective rubber match comes, it will be one for the ages.
