3. Mae Young Classic – Toni Storm vs. Hiroyo Matsumoto
This match did exactly what it was meant to do when it kicked off the second round of the Mae Young Classic. It elevated the bar of competition between the ropes and made it feel like a whole different ball game.
The ‘Lady Destroyer’ dominated with a helping hand of Storm’s incredible selling but in the end, ‘Toni Time’ was able to outlast Matsumoto and pick up a grueling win. It was a hard-hitting affair and, after how the rest of the night went, that is a term that will be used truthfully and often from here on out.
Storm is a clear favorite in the tournament alongside the majority of her new semi-finalist companions. But that is just it. WWE has done incredibly well to make this not about just two women. Almost everyone walking into the finals has a claim for the throne and none of them will give it up lightly.
