Every WWE Money In The Bank Ladder Match Ranked

19. Money In The Bank ’13 – Damien Sandow def. Cody Rhodes, Dean Ambrose, Jack Swagger, Antonio Cesaro, Fandango and Wade Barrett (***3/4)

An all-heel affair, Damien Sandow captured the case by betraying Team Rhodes Scholars tag partner Cody Rhodes, shoving him off the ladder at the last minute to grab the briefcase for himself. Hampered a little by a lack of potential winners and depth of star power.

18. Money In The Bank ’12 – John Cena def. Big Show, Kane, The Miz and Chris Jericho (***3/4)

Cena was expected to win in advance of the pay-per-view and ‘Big Match John’ duly pulled through in this five-man encounter, surviving ahead of The Miz, The Big Show, Kane and Chris Jericho. The finish was odd. Big Show wiped out Jericho and Miz with knockout punches then fought with Cena at the top of the ladder. Cena repeatedly smashed Show in the head with the briefcase and it came off the hook and into Cena’s hand, making him the winner. It was a rather flat ending.

17. Money In The Bank ’11 – Alberto Del Rio def. Rey Mysterio, The Miz, Alex Riley, Evan Bourne, Jack Swagger and R-Truth (***3/4)

Del Rio had to settle for the runners-up prize at MITB having been originally booked to end the night as WWE Champion. It was the third time in 2011 that Del Rio had World Title plans change on him, as he was also set to capture the gold at Royal Rumble and WrestleMania. The finish was unique but also sadly ruined by weakened ladders. Del Rio and Rey Mysterio fought at the top of the ladder where Del Rio pulled off Rey’s mask. He was supposed to then retrieve the briefcase but the ladders collapsed, so Alberto had to put the ladder back up then climb again and grab the case. That and some ill-advised comedy at the start dragged down what was otherwise a cracking bout.

16. WrestleMania XXVI – Jack Swagger def. Matt Hardy, Christian, Kofi Kingston, Kane, Drew McIntyre, Evan Boure, Dolph Ziggler, MVP and Shelton Benjamin (***3/4)

The safest WrestleMania Money in the Bank match to this point due to shots to the head being banned, which for the sake of the wrestlers was definitely a positive thing. The match did not suffer any as a result, with the usual big spots replaced by the drama of attempted ladder climbs. And with so many guys involved (nine) it was chaotic enough to entertain. The downside was the result: Swagger’s win was one of the more underwhelming in the history of the match.

15. WrestleMania XXV – CM Punk def. Christian, Shelton Benjamin, Finlay, Kane, Mark Henry, Kofi Kingston and MVP (***3/4)

Punk became the first and only man to win the MITB match in consecutive years, overcoming Fit Finlay, Mark Henry, Kane, Kofi Kingston, MVP, Shelton Benjamin and Christian. Kofi and Shelton provided plenty of athletic feats, with most – including Finlay – doing dives. Perhaps a little underwhelming for the same man to win again, though few complained.
