WWE Raw vs. SmackDown #11 – July 2 & 3

SmackDown Live

Jeff Hardy (c) defeated The Miz – WWE United States Championship

This didn’t exactly light the world on fire and certainly wasn’t as good as their recent Money in the Bank qualifier, but it was fairly solid stuff.

It was a pretty even affair with both men sharing offense and signature maneuvers, with Hardy even incorporating his ‘Woken’ side.

Towards the conclusion, Mix rolled up the ‘Charismatic Enigma,’ but the ref spotted both his feet on the rope so stopped the count before three and shortly after Hardy capitalized with a Twist of Fate and Swanton Bomb to retain his title.

Asuka vs. James Ellsworth Draw via Double Countout

After Asuka slapped him really, really, really, really hard, Ellsworth ran away and Asuka chased him, forcing the ref to count them both out.

AJ Styles defeated Aiden English

I’d have liked to have seen this one go a little longer as English is actually quite good, but I do understand why it was over pretty quickly.

Rusev distracted Styles at the start so English could gain the upper hand, but this didn’t last long and the ‘Shakespeare of Song’ soon enough tapped out to the Calf Crusher.

Becky Lynch defeated Peyton Royce

Peyton started on top but Lynch quickly turned the tables and won with the Dis-Arm-Her

Team Hell No (Daniel Bryan and Kane) defeated The Usos (Jimmy and Jey)

This one started pretty quickly but it wasn’t long before the Samoan twins were in control of Bryan and slowed the pace down.

A Kane hot-tag didn’t last long and a couple of Superkicks allowed Jimmy and Jey to regain control.

They went for a double splash, but the ‘Big Red Machine’ caught them both. After Bryan struck Jimmy with a running knee, Kane landed a Chokeslam on Jey for the win.

A decent match but nothing special.

Match of the Show

Team Hell No (Daniel Bryan and Kane) defeated The Usos (Jimmy and Jey)

Much like RawSmackDown suffered a poor week between the ropes this time around. The decent pace of the main event was enough to secure it as the best of a pretty average bunch.

The Verdict

As I’ve already said, neither show was that good in terms of matches this week and I’m actually really struggling to pick a winner.

I think Raw just about pipped it.
