WWE SmackDown Live live results – October 2, 2018

She’s the best thing about SmackDown Live, if she says so herself. Great to see Becky in the main event slot where she belongs.

But what is the surprise going to be?

Well I hope it’s not this video package. Oli will be pleased.

She’s angry because she’s not the face of the billboards and the pay-per-view posters. If anyone’s wondering, she’s not on the poster for Super ShowDown.

She has however designed a new poster for us…and that’s the surprise.

Out comes Charlotte and beats up Becky. WHAT A HEEL! We all hate you Charlotte, Becky is our champion.

And that’s the show. A pretty lame ending in all seriousness, and a pretty weak show all around. Oh well, Super ShowDown on Saturday which should be fun.

Asuka bt. Peyton Royce

Not much more to say than that really. This feud was too long when it started.

Asuka sells her face after being kicked in the knee. Clearly they’ve found her weak spot. Oh no, she’s been caught in the Royce lock, this is a thriller.

Asuka locks Peyton in something that resembles a submission move and she taps.

Hopefully this final segment with Becky Lynch will save a lacklustre show.

Did anyone else have a disproportionately long SmackDown Title scene?

Anyway, time for a breast cancer awareness segment.

Shelton Benjamin bt. Daniel Bryan

Shelton is on top early, and with Miz on commentary, the odds are stacked against Daniel Bryan in this one.

Bryan his Benjamin with the yes kicks, which is pretty brave after Brie Bella’s attempts from last week.

Benjamin has the upper hand as we head into the first ad-break of the match. The gold standard throws Bryan around ringside, and I’m sure one of them will be in the chin lock when we get back.

I was wrong, as usual. Instead, Bryan flies off the top rope to hit Benjamin with a headbutt. The two trade blows, with running drop kicks and running knees aplenty. Shelton gets a near-fall after a German suplex.

There’s a surprise. The Miz interferes and Shelton hits Bryan with Paydirt for the win. Why can no-one ever kick out of a finisher after being distracted? Does the distraction itself hurt?

Time to find out exactly what happened in Milwaukee…

Lana has once again lost her accent. Milwaukee is a great place, Aiden explains, and that it’s completely unforgettable, just like what happened in Milwaukee.

The tension is too much.

It’s…It’s…A BADLY EDITED VIDEO!

Aiden shows a video of Lana coming to his hotel room, when she says “I want you” before the clip is paused. Obviously, she’s going to say something else, but this is WWE and everyone is a moron.

We’ll be seeing the rest of that video next week I’m sure.

Tye Dillinger attacks Orton before the bell rings, slamming him onto the announce table. We have never seen this side of Tye before.

Unfortunately, that 20 seconds of offence is all Tye’s gonna get.

One elevated DDT later, and Orton shoves Tye’s finger through a metal link in the ring. What is it with him and putting fingers of questionable origin into small holes?

Allegedly.

Anyway, this match never happened and I doubt it’s the end of the feud. Surely this has to lead to a United States title match of some kind? Shinsuke can’t go two PPVs without defending.

New Day Cooks!

Who knew that they’d get so much mileage out of pancakes and batter.

They put Mr Bootyworth over to the crowd, thanking him for cooking every single pancake that the New Day has ever thrown into the crowd.

So, what’s the secret to the perfect pancake? We’ll never know, because here are Sheamus and Cesaro.

A fight breaks out, the New Day get covered in flour, and Mr Bootyworth is covered in pancake batter. The classic heel move.

Now that they’ve deprived the WWE Universe of more pancakes, the Bar has passed into a realm of heelishness that I have never seen before.

They need to be stopped because they punch a waffle.

Carmella and R-Truth bt. Zelina Vega and Andrade ‘Cien’ Almas via submission

Oh wow. Zelina Vega taking on Carmella. The definition of dream match.

Vega starts the match on top, but ‘Mella quickly manages to hit Zelina with a jawbreaker and tag in R-Truth, thus bringing in Andrade ‘Cien’ Almas. It would be a heel move for Truth to punch Vega in the face anyway.

Anyone else noticed that Truth is trying to dress like John Cena? It’s a final effort to re-enter the main event scene.

We enter our second ad break with Almas lying outside the ring following a missed running knee to the corner. What a brilliantly average match this has been so far. Expecting more of the same after the break.

Surprise surprise, Zeline Vega is on top when we come back.

Wham, bam, slam. ‘Mella locks Vega in the Code of Silence for the win. It was a match, and that’s literally all I can say about it.

Now for some pancakes because…WRESTLING!

Paige hates pronouncing the letter “T”.

She explains that Joe committed the worst crime ever in the history of the world and she’s already painted the gallows SmackDown blue for his dawn execution.

Hey look, a video package recapping last week.

Phew, thankfully the Styles family is ok. Charges were pressed against Samoa Joe, and management say he should be fired for his actions!

But wait, AJ is dropping the charges, because he wants to beat Samoa Joe and hand out the punishment himself.

“That’s crazy, but I agree,” she says. Thankfully she’s very persuadable.

Hey look, another video, this time of AJ apologising to fans for not being at SmackDown Live. Instead, he’s at home making sure no large men trespass on his property again.

His daughter has been looking in her closet for uncle Joe. Don’t look too much, Anney, or you may find uncle Joe’s playboy stash.

So, AJ clearly says he wants to bury Samoa Joe alive…if only there was some kind of WWE match format that could involve burying someone alive.

Oh well, we’ll just have to watch a mixed tag match between Carmella, R-Truth and Zelina Vega and Andrade ‘Cien’ Almas.

Samoa Joe’s a big old meanie, isn’t he? His antics on last week’s SmackDown Live are top of of Paige’s list of priorities for tonight, and he’s not going to go unpunished.

Also on the show, we may find out what Aiden English meant by his comments regarding Lana and Milwaukee, and the New Day will show us how to make pancakes…in other words, a mixed show.

Daniel Bryan will take on Shelton Benjamin, and we’ll see a mixed tag match between Zelina Vega and Andrade ‘Cien’ Almas vs. Carmella and R-Truth.

Most importantly however, we’ll see what Becky Lynch has in store for us next. She has promised a “surprise” heading into Super ShowDown this Saturday, and I for one will be happy with whatever she says.

Follow the show right here with all the match and segment reaction you could ask for. Also, Liam’s not here, so it’ll be much more fun than it usually is!
