WWE SmackDown Live, September 18 2018 – Highs and Lows

High: Samoa Joe’s aggression

“You know the truth. You will never be safe!”

Well, that seems like a threat, and WWE is no place for such unkind language, Joe.

On a serious note, Joe is now a very angry man with a justified reason for being angry, making him the most dangerous superstar on the roster…if you don’t count Brie Bella.

Despite a couple of odd moments, this feud has been largely very watchable, and the blow-off at Super Showdown will likely be one of the highlights of the show.

Joe has a presence that very few in the company are able to replicate, and making people think you’re terrifying is 90% of the job in wrestling. Keep up the scary work.

Low: The sun sets on Rusev Day

Now, I know this was always going to happen, but that doesn’t mean I can’t sulk about it.

Teasing the turn throughout the night, what with Lana over-hearing Aiden English claiming all of Rusev Day’s success was down to him, WWE pulled the plug on Rusev Day in heartbreaking fashion.

The worst thing about this is that everyone knows WWE doesn’t see Aiden English as anything more than a lower-midcard guy who has been holding onto the heels of Rusev for the past year.

Once we’ve seen the blow-off to this feud, probably on the Super Showdown pre-show…where next? I’ll tell you where next; he’ll be losing to the likes of Randy Orton and whoever else needs to beat someone to get momentum.

Or…he’ll be released.
