WWE SmackDown September 25 2018 – Highs and Lows

High: Truth TV

Who knew that R-Truth would turn out to be one of the biggest benefactors of April’s WWE Draft?

Having toiled for months without doing anything, the veteran Truth started to appear in backstage skits campaigning for a match with then-Women’s champ Carmella.

Their interaction was so amusing that they were paired together in the Mixed Match Challenge and Carmella was turned babyface by virtue of her association with the hip-hop loving star.

The pair’s show-opening segment on this week’s episode was a riot. Aping Miz TV, Truth and Carmella hosted the show with guest Daniel Bryan, stopping at interludes from customary dance breaks and delivering their lines with big smiles on their faces.

They were all having fun and it showed. Better still the audience reacted to it in a big way, practically guaranteeing its return in the future. More of this, please!

Low: No Andrade

It speaks volumes about what a good episode of SmackDown this was that one of the two low points was not something that happened on the show but rather something that did not.

The lack of former NXT Champion Andrade Almas on the broadcast was noticeable. Unfortunately it is an all-too frequent occurrence.

It took Andrade months to finally debut after being called up from NXT and WWE did very little with him when he did, clearly having no set plan for him in place other than the fact they wanted him on the roster.

If reports are correct that Vince McMahon sees a lot of potential in Almas and has him pegged as a potential Royal Rumble winner and WrestleMania title match challenger, then WWE writers need to get their fingers out and start coming up with engaging programmes for Andrade.
