2018 Royal Rumble: Ten Things You NEED to Know

2. The best Rumble match of all time?

When the dust settled after the 2018 men’s Rumble match, one thing was for certain: it was far superior to the 2015 match which took place in the same building. This time, Philadelphia was treated to an exciting and dramatic 65 minutes of great action, up there with the 1990, 1992, 2004, and 2010 matches in the Rumble’s all-time pantheon.

Highlights included Kofi Kingston’s annual elimination avoider (landing with one foot on a pancake plate before his New Day teammates sprung him back into the ring), Heath Slater getting bullied by each ensuing entrant, a heated final sequence, and, of course, the surprises.

3. Rey Mysterio made a grand return

Hey, a Rey Mysterio Rumble entry in Pennsylvania which he’s not booed out of the building. Consider that a Tosh.0-esque “Web Redemption” of sorts. A much slimmer Rey-Rey stormed the Rumble at the number 27 position, and was a welcome addition to an already fun match. He got to eliminate fellow guest entry Adam Cole prior to a fifth-place finish.

Other surprises included NXT Champion Andrade “Cien” Almas, less than 24 hours after his picture-perfect war with Johnny Gargano at the TakeOver event. On the lighter side, The Hurricane showed up in full superhero regalia, and was quickly dumped by John Cena.
