205 Live General Manager Drake Maverick has announced that Cedric Alexander will be defending the WWE Cruiserweight Championship against Drew Gulak in a Summerslam rematch on this week’s taping.
Since WrestleMania 34, Alexander has held dominion over the 205 Live roster, which includes victories over Mustafa Ali, Buddy Murphy, and Hideo Itami.
However, despite losing his chance at championship gold at the biggest party of the summer, Drew Gulak continues to be a thorn in the side of Alexander as he and Jack Gallagher were able to secure a victory over Cedric and Akira Tozawa in the main event of 205 Live this past week.
GM Maverick has also taken to Twitter to announce that the show will be having a new airing slot on the WWE Network; moving from after SmackDown Live to 7pm ET (Midnight UK).

WWE has already announced that Cedric Alexander will be defending his Cruiserweight title against Buddy Murphy at WWE Super Showdown in October, so it’s unlikely that they’ll be taking the belt off Alexander at this juncture, but stranger things have happened.
