205 Live Review – June 19, 2018: Respect Earned

Number One Contender’s Triple Threat Match – Mustafa Ali vs. Hideo Itami vs. Buddy Murphy

Before this, TJP had a quick promo and brawl with a jobber. The promo was good, but the brawl did nothing for him.

This match was never going to be bad. Three of 205 Live‘s best collided in the main event to produce a solid battle. The early stages of the match saw Murphy and Ali take turns getting some revenge on Itami, after his assault on the two a couple weeks ago. As the action picked up, no man had a clear advantage in the match.

Ali cleared Murphy out of the ring before attempting a reverse crossbody, but he was kicked in the face on the way down by Itami. Murphy then got his time on top, scoring a very good near-fall on Hideo. Outside the ring, Murphy then attempted to send Ali through the announce table, but Mustafa countered with a Spanish Fly to the floor. This took Murphy out for the remainder of the match.

Ali crawled back inside where he was met by Itami. Hideo ripped the padding from the turnbuckle, then hit a running dropkick to secure the victory.

Result: Hideo Itami def. Mustafa Ali and Buddy Murphy

The ending was a tad anti-climactic, but the action preceding was spectacular. A well put together match kept everyone guessing who would come out on top. Not only that, but several huge spots made the action feel frantic and exciting inbetween near-falls. Whether it was Ali hitting a 450 onto both opponents, or the Spanish Fly on the outside, the athleticism on display was apparrent, and amazing. While arguably the weakest of the three in the match, Itami winning was the right call.
