# 5 FASCINATING SummerSlam Statistics

![](https://staging.wrestletalk.com/app/uploads/2018/08/SUMMERSLAM-STATS.jpg)It’s that time of year again, where **WWE** rolls out the beach towels for ‘The Biggest Event of the Summer’.

From The Undertaker to The Red Rooster, almost all of WWE’s talent has made an appearance at **Summerslam** over the years.

One of **WWE**‘s ‘Big 4’ pay-per-views, **Summerslam** has definitely produced some memorable moments, but also created some interesting statistics for fans like me to look up as a way to stay awake during **Raw.**

## 5. Booker T does not dig it, sucka.

‘The five-time, five-time, five-time Champ’ also has five losses at **Summerslam.** Sensing a pattern here? Booker T/ King Booker has had five Summerslam matches throughout his **WWE** career and he did not win a single one of them!

Not only is Booker tied for third most **Summerslam** singles match losses, he has the worse W/L record for singles matches in **Summerslam** history! Coming in at a close second is Brie Bella and Marty Jannetty at 0-4.

Booker’s five losses came when:

1. The Rock beat him for the **WCW** Championship in the main event of **Summerslam** **’01**
2. He and Goldust lost the **WWE** Tag Team Championships to the team of Christian and Lance Storm (’02)
3. He lost to John Cena in the first match of a best of five series (’04)
4. Lost to Batista via DQ (’06)
5. Lost to Triple H (’07)

To put that into perspective, Booker T has fewer wins than Zack Ryder, Carlito, Stephanie McMahon… well you get the picture.

## 4. 312 wrestlers have competed

312 Wrestlers (46 Female and 266 male) have competed at **Summerslam** throughout the past 30 years. 42% (133) of athletes have only competed once, while The Undertaker has had the most matches, with 16.

The most for a female superstar is only four, with Brie Bella (0-4), Beth Phoenix (3-1), and Natalya (3-1) all standing on top of that short ladder.

There have also been 279 matches, which is an average of 9.3 matches per show.

## 3. Some wrestlers do surprisingly well

While the records of names like Edge (8-2) and Hulk Hogan (6-0) are not surprising given their overall success in **WWE**, some less likely superstars have also thrived at the summer spectacular

- Bart Gunn, Tatanka, Neville, Jerry Lawler, and John Morrison are all 3-0 at **Summerslam** and are the only five wrestlers currently boasting a 3-0 record
- Billy Gunn is 4-1
- I.R.S is 3-1

These are just the standouts, there are plenty of others that raise an eyelid. These are the most notable.

## 2. The Hardys are the worst Summerslam wrestlers of all-time

Their self-esteem may be the only thing that is ‘Broken’.

Not only is Jeff 0-3 in singles action, he is 0-3 in tag team action as well!

His brother Matt does not fare much better, being 1-2 in singles matches, as well as being 0-3 in tag team bouts.

They are 0-3 as a tag team (including a 3v3 match w/ Jason Jordan against the Miztourage) and a combined 1-5 in singles action.

Jeff Hardy has the worst W/L ratio in **Summerslam** history at 0-6, and Matt is not far behind him at 1-5, plus one win via DQ that I’ve decided not to count as a win.

If Jeff loses to Shinsuke Nakamura on Sunday, he will drop to an abysmal 0-7.

## Honorable Mention: mid-card opposites

The U.S title has only changes hands twice in **Summerslam** history, whereas the IC title has changed hands 14 times!

## 1.The Undertaker has more than one streak

The Undertaker has another impressive streak to show off besides his famous **Wrestlemania** undefeated streak, well two if you count the streak of terrible **Summerslam** matches/rivalries he had (I’m looking at *you* Fake Undertaker).

The Undertaker and John Cena are tied for the most consecutive **Summerslam** appearances with 14 in a row. Cena wrestled at every **Summerslam** between 2004 and 2017, while ‘Taker competed at every **Summerslam** from 1992 through to 2005.

Bret Hart, who has won three separate titles in his 11 matches, (1988-1995) and Dolph Ziggler (2009-2016) are far behind in second place with eight consecutive appearances.

Fun Fact: 2018 will be the first **Summerslam** that does not feature Brett Hart, The Undertaker or John Cena. Probably!
