Championship-a-Mania
Saying that WWE has a lot of championships is a bit like saying McDonald’s sells a lot of cheeseburgers. It’s an understatement and probably not very good for anyone’s health.
WrestleMania 34 will feature nine championship matches, which is the most championship matches on a single WrestleMania card in the show’s history.
Despite not adding any new championships since last year’s show, the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championships were not defended on WrestleMania 33, while they are this year. This means that every single one of WWE’s main roster titles will be on the line this year… which has pretty much invalidated the whole of the Clash of Champions pay-per-view.
With 12 championships (now 13 as of NXT TakeOver: New Orleans) across Raw, SmackDown, 205 Live and NXT – with a new Cruiserweight Tag Team Championship also to be announced to make it 14 – WWE is really pushing the boat out when it comes to the number of titles one wrestling company can have.
