Roman and Brock’s Universal Rivalry
Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar will step into the ring tonight, presumably as the main event of WrestleMania 34. This will make Reigns and Lesnar only the third pair of wrestlers to close out WrestleMania together more than once – the other two being “Stone Cold” Steve Austin with The Rock and The Rock (again) with John Cena. Not a bad group to be a part of.
What sets Reigns and Lesnar apart from the others in that group, however, is that Reigns and Lesnar’s rivalry hasn’t just spanned three years, but two different championships.
When Brock and Roman squared off at WrestleMania 31, it was for the WWE Championship. This year, Reigns will challenge Lesnar for the WWE Universal Championship, making Brock and Roman the first pair of wrestlers to compete against each other for two different world championships at WrestleMania.
The ‘Big Dog’ and the ‘Beast’ should put on an amazing match in the ring, proving that they really do deserve to have competed for two different world titles at WrestleMania. Whether the fans feel that way when they’re booing Roman’s win at the end of the show is another matter entirely.
