After eight NJPW stars were pulled from Monday’s August 16 show due to COVID-19, seven were pulled from today’s August 17 show.
Shingo Takagi and BUSHI both had fevers on Sunday and so underwent PCR tests, but had to miss the following shows, as did everyone who was in the ring with them that day. The results of the PCR tests aren’t yet known.
As well as those two, the names that were pulled from today’s show were:
- Tetsuya Naito
- SANADA
- Yujiro Takahashi
- Gedo
- Dick Togo
The one that missed Monday’s show but wasn’t scheduled for Tuesday so wasn’t technically “pulled” again was EVIL.
Takagi is still scheduled to defend the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship against EVIL at Wrestle Grand Slam on September 5.
Here’s the updated card for Tuesday’s show with the changes taken into account:
- Super Jr. Tag League: Taiji Ishimori & El Phantasmo (4-0) vs. El Desperado & Yoshinobu Kanemaru (3-1)
- Super Jr. Tag League: Robbie Eagles & Tiger Mask (3-1) vs. Ryusuke Taguchi & Master Wato (2-2)
- Hirooki Goto, YOSHI-HASHI, Hiroyoshi Tenzan & Satoshi Kojima vs. Taichi, Zack Sabre Jr., Minoru Suzuki & DOUKI
- Toru Yano & Togi Makabe vs. Chase Owens & Jado
- Tomoaki Honma vs. Great-O-Khan
