‘A bunch of the other matches went over’ – Marty Scurll on All In overrun

All In was a massive hit last weekend. The show catered to the fans and it was superbly satisfying, the matches were great and the production was better than anticipated.

The only real issue in the whole outing was timing. The main event between the Golden Elite (Kota Ibushi, Matt Jackson, and Nick Jackson) and Rey Mysterio, Bandido, and Rey Fénix had to be cut short by a reported 16 minutes.

Rumors are that the Marty Scurll vs. Kazuchika Okada match ran 14 minutes over its allotted time. Others have even stated the reason Marty wasn’t out for the closing curtain call was due to heat over the match running long. Scurll’s match did last 26 minutes and was the longest match on the card. However, according to the ‘Villain’ himself, who was interviewed by Sean Mooney on his Prime Time podcast, the match actually only went over by one minute.

Scurll stated:

“Normally, I don’t like to reveal the curtain back too much, but in this case, I will. It went a minute over. People were saying like 14 minutes over. No, the show, ran 14 minutes over. A bunch of the other matches went over.

“Our match is crucified because we were the match before last. It looks like ‘oh these guys went over.’ No, no, no. The show went over.”

So why didn’t he shorten the match?

“Before I went out Nick [Jackson] said to me and Okada, ‘Guys whatever you do, don’t cut anything… Even if we go dark tonight, it’s fine.’ Just do what you gotta do.”

Many have questioned why Scurll wasn’t on the curtain call. He also has not been included in the conversations about the Elite signing together as a group

Marty addressed the curtain call absence, stating:

“I didn’t know it was going on. I was in the semi-main match. So, I finished my match. I cooled down and I was in the shower. I didn’t know it was going on. I didn’t have a clue.”
