WWE/AAA
A current TNA Wrestling champion and former WWE star has admitted that he wishes he was announced for an upcoming AAA event.
It was recently announced that TNA World Champion Joe Hendry, X Division Champion Moose and TNA Tag Team Champions Nic & Ryan Nemeth will compete at TripleMania Regia on June 15, amid speculation about AAA’s future following WWE’s acquisition.
Speaking on In The Weeds, inaugural TNA International Champion Steve Maclin noted that he wishes he was factored into plans for this show.
Noting that he is going to work harder for opportunities to defend his gold internationally, Maclin said:
“I’m trying. I know we just announced AAA with TNA and WWE, so you never know if I could pop up there.
“Do I wish I was part of that announcement? Yes, but obviously I need to work a little harder. That’s okay. I take no fault for it.
“They have creative plans somewhere else and it means I keep making this title as mean as much as I can.”
Maclin previously wrestled for WWE as Steve Cutler from 2014 up until his release in February 2021.
He became TNA International Champion at the April 17 Unbreakable event, defeating Eric Young and AJ Francis to become the inaugural champion.
