AAA
Grab your guitars and start throwing tacos, this story is about Jeff Jarrett.
The recently-inducted WWE Hall of Famer has been booked in an extremely high profile match at one of wrestling’s biggest shows – AAA’s TripleManía XXVI.
The event, scheduled to take place in Mexico City, Mexico on the 25th August 2018, will see Jarrett defend his AAA Mega Championship, which is AAA’s most prestigious belt. If you ever want to complain about WWE relying on aged stars, just remember that, somewhere, Jeff Jarrett is a world champion.
The former WWE Intercontinental and WCW Heavyweight Champion will defend his Mega Championship against one of Mexico’s greatest recent wrestling exports – Fenix.
The masked luchador, who is perhaps best known to American audiences for his work on Impact and Lucha Underground (he is their first ever Triple Crown winner) is challenging Jarrett with the hope of winning the Mega Championship for the first time in his career.
The title has been previously held by stars such as Mil Muertes, Johnny Mundo (the former John Morrison) and Alberto El Patron (the former Alberto Del Rio).
AAA ran their first Triplemanía event back in 1993 and the show has been headlined by such wrestling legends as Konnan, Jushin Thunder Liger, Rey Mysterio and Jake “The Snake Roberts”.
Other matches on the Triplemanía XXVI card thus far include a Fatal 4-Way match involving the likes of El Hijo del Fantasma, LA Park (the former La Parka) and Pentagon Jr. and a singles match between Alberto El Patron and former Impact champion, Eli Drake.
Are you excited to see Jeff Jarrett vs Fenix? Are you going to be tuning into TripleManía? Who else is surprised that Jarrett is still wrestling? Let us know.
