Absent AEW Star Teases Imminent Return Alongside Kenny Omega AEW

An absent AEW star has teased a return to the company alongside Kenny Omega, following an almost year long absence.

Kenny Omega’s AEW in-ring absence is now approaching the one year mark following a serious bout of diverticulitis last December.

Aside from a a sole appearance on AEW TV in May Omega has remained off TV throughout his recovery, with the former AEW World Champion confirming earlier this month that he was still yet to be cleared to return.

Despite this, there have also been reports of Omega returning to “moderately intense” training raising hopes that a return could be coming soon for the Best Bout Machine.

While that was enough to raise expectations slightly, Omega’s long-time ally and tag team partner Kota Ibushi’s latest Instagram post may increase them tenfold.

Posting an image of he and Omega training, Ibushi seemingly teased that both he and Omega were working towards an imminent return to AEW.

Ibushi wrote:

Last practice is over!!! We haven’t seen each other quite a bit, but this time we’ve got a hard push.

Tuned up for AEW which will be soon. I still have a long time to fulfill my promises! The scenery sure has changed❗Now just to do it! We’re both on fire!!

Thank you for your flexible contract even though you belong.

Well, there are some things I’ve done, but basically when I’m in Japan, it’s good.

Similarly to Omega, Ibushi has also been away from AEW in-ring competition for the entirety of 2024, with his last match in the company coming in November before injuring both of his ankles during a match with Naomichi Marafuji in Pro Wrestling NOAH in January.

However, Ibushi has recently returned to action in Japan, competing on three occasions since July for GLEAT and DDT.

You can view Ibushi’s post down below and WrestleTalk will provide further updates on both Ibushi and Omega’s AEW return as/when they become available.
