An absent WWE star has thrown shade at Intercontinental Champion Gunther ahead of the Gauntlet match on next week’s Raw show.
The challenger for Gunther’s Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 40 is set to be determined on next week’s episode of Raw, where six potential challengers for his title will face off in a Gauntlet match.
Sami Zayn, Chad Gable, JD McDonagh, Bronson Reed, Shinsuke Nakamura and Ricochet are set to be the participants in the match, but another former rival of Gunther clearly still has unfinished business with him.
Taking to Twitter, Sheamus shared a clip of his rematch with Gunther on SmackDown in October 2022, where Gunther used a Brazilian tap out to escape Sheamus’ Cloverleaf submission hold, only tapping on the mat twice.
He simply wrote:
This bum tapped.
Sheamus has been off WWE television since August, when he faced off against Edge on SmackDown in Toronto in what would end up being Edge’s final match in WWE before leaving for AEW.
