World Champion

Abyss most recently reunited with James Mitchell on Impact following the introduction of Kongo Kong as Impact‘s new monster. Jimmy Jacobs introduced Kong to the promotion before goading Abyss into a return, which lead to a Monster’s Ball match that was won by Kongo Kong.

Since the loss in the Monster’s Ball match, Abyss has not been seen on Impact, and has instead taken a role on the creative team.

Abyss won the NWA World Heavyweight Championship from Sting at Genesis in 2006, marking the only time he would win the company’s top title. He would also go on to have feuds with Matt Morgan, Mick Foley, Rob Van Dam, and the ‘Broken’ Hardys as part of his faction Decay.

The feud with the Hardys would lead to one of the famous Hardy Compound segments, entitled ‘Delete or Decay.’

The TNA ‘Grand Slam’ Champion will also be remembered for playing the role of his own brother/split personality Joseph Park on Impact in 2012.

Parks portrayed his lawyer brother who was trying to uncover the whereabouts of Abyss who hadn’t been seen since Genesis. Park would go on to wrestle many matches before the storyline ended, before making a return in 2017.
