As per Jon Alba of AdFreeShow, Acey Romero has been released by IMPACT Wrestling after not appearing on TV for months.
In August, it was reported that Romero had requested his release from the company. Alba took to Twitter to note that Romero is no longer with IMPACT:
“I’m told IMPACT Wrestling has released Acey Romero, and he can now work with any promotion. Romero hadn’t appeared on TV since early spring after he contracted COVID-19, and @SeanRossSapp reported last month he requested his release after not being used for months.”
According to Fightful Select (subscription required), paperwork regarding Romero’s release took several weeks to finalise, but proceedings reportedly went smoothly once the ball got rolling.
The report confirmed that Romero has no non-compete clause, and is free to work with any promotion, as noted by Alba.
Romero was under a paid-per-appearance deal with IMPACT. He hadn’t wrestled on TV for the company since his tag-team bout which aired on the May 20 edition of IMPACT. Romero’s tag partner, Larry D of XXXL, is reportedly still under contract with IMPACT.
