Report: Adam Cole Concussion Believed To Be ‘Very Serious’ AEW

An update has emerged on AEW star Adam Cole, following concern surrounding his injury status.

Cole returned to the ring for the first time since Double or Nothing at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, wrestling in the IWGP World Heavyweight Title fourway bout.

The bout ended with Jay White pinning Adam Cole after dropping Kazuchika Okada with a Blade Runner. Reports following the event indicated that Cole was hurt early in the bout.

Per Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Cole suffered what was believed to be a ‘very serious’ concussion. Noting that Cole is still dealing with a torn labrum injury, Meltzer wrote:

“Cole, who has been wrestling with a torn labrum (shoulder), suffered what was believed to have been a very serious concussion, leading to a rushed and awkward finish of the IWGP title match as Jay White pinned him.

“It’s probably best to fix the torn labrum with surgery, or at least with a lot of rehab, but that also would mean a long time out and clearly by the fact he was wrestling on it, that means he’s mentally wanting to continue. But it’s better to get it fixed now if possible.”

Cole is just one of many AEW stars currently dealing with injuries, with the likes of TNT Champion Scorpio Sky and AEW World Champion CM Punk both hurt in recent weeks.
